Scots continue to impress on the world circuit while champions are crowned on the TS Open Tour

Jacob Fearnley carried his form onto the ATP Tour over the weekend, qualifying for the Nordic Open main draw, an ATP 250 event in Stockholm.

Fearnley, playing his third career ATP 250 event, was the top seed in qualifying and opened his account with a 6-4 6-2 win over Lukas Pokorny.

Next up was world number 117, Kamil Majchrzak of Poland. Majchrzak had also been in form as he had won his previous ATP Challenger event in Villena, Spain.

Fearnley dropped the first set 3-6 but managed to bounce back, winning the second 6-3 to force a decider.

Little was in the third set as both players held serve. Fearnley battled off a match point at 5-6 but held to level the set 6-6.

A dominant tie-break saw Fearnley take advantage of his early lead, winning 7-2 to book his place in the main draw.

Jacob will take on Frenchman, world number 71, Corentin Moutet in the first round on Tuesday.

Stewart and Raath pick up TS Open Tour titles

Hamish Stewart and Marelie Raath were the latest winners on the TS Open Tour over the weekend at the University of Stirling Open.

Stewart entered as the top seed, coming into Stirling unbeaten in his three events played this season.

Stewart downed Zak Radziwillowicz in his first match before besting Cameron Fryer 6-3 6-2 in the quarter-final.

A walkover against third seed Liam Hignett in the semi-final would see Stewart advance to Sunday’s final.

Nicolas Rosenzweig had kept up his winning form form his recent win at the Lexus British Tour Glasgow and currently sits at the top of the TS Open Tour Leaderboard. Rosenzweig had beaten fourth seed Rob Cowley in the other semi-final.

Stewart retained his dominant form in the final, securing the title 6-2 6-2. Hamish remains unbeaten in TS Open Tour play and will feature next week at the GB Pro Series M25 ITF event in Glasgow.

Marelie Raath of Hertfordshire entered the women’s event as the top seed. Raath started strongly with straight sets wins over Ellys Pollon and Anna Mcbride to advance to the semi-finals.

There she faced TS Open Tour leader Heather Barlow. Raath took the opening set 6-1 but Barlow bounced back to clinch a close second set 7-6(6). Little was in the third set match tie-break which saw the top seed prevail 10-7 and progress to the final.

Yorkshire’s Lucy Furness posted an impressive run to the final. After a first round win over Freya Cooper, Furness upset second seed Sarah Mcfadyen 6-2 6-1 before toppling third seed Halle Pringle 6-3 6-2.

The final saw Raath take the opening set 6-1 before pulling through a tight second set 7-5 to become champion.

The TS Open Tour returns with the Ayrshire Open taking place this weekend.

Lumsden and Pourroy win Monastir

Ewen Lumsden was collecting hardware again last week on the ITF World Tour, winning the M15 Monastir doubles title with doubles partner Loris Pourroy of France.

Lumsden and Pourroy began their campaign with a 6-1 7-5 win over Argentinian duo Mariano Andres Bibiloni and Nicolas Hollender.

The quarter-finals saw the pair recover from an early setback to defeat David Eichenseher and Sebastian Prechtel of Germany 5-7 6-0 10-1 to move into the final four.

Lumsden and Pourroy kept their momentum going to eliminate third seeded Americans Alex Jones and Miles Jones 7-5 6-3 and book their spot in the final.

Set to play Chris Rodesch and William Woodall in the final, Lumsden and Pourroy were given a walkover in the final, crowning them champions of the M15 event.

Ewen competes again this week in Monastir before returning home to play in the M25 Glasgow next week.

McHugh reaches semi-finals in Kentucky

Aidan McHugh posted a strong run last week at the ITF M25 Louisville where he made the final four.

McHugh downed Siem Woldeab of the USA 6-3 6-4 in the opening round before eliminating Jack Loutit of New Zealand 6-1 6-3 to advance to the quarter-final.

Portugal's Tiago Torres had come through qualifying to make an impressive journey to the last eight but McHugh continued his own form, downing Torres 6-3 6-3 to move onto the semi-final.

McHugh's tournament ended in the semi-final where he lost out in a tough battle to Johannus Monday 4-6 6-4 1-6.
