End-of-season TS Open Tour Finals expanded to include new events for more players

• 4 MINUTE READ

Tennis Scotland are expanding this year’s TS Open Tour Finals to include more events for more players.

‘Challenge’ and ‘Junior’ Finals will take place following a series of ‘Leaderboard’ qualification competitions held throughout 2025.

Players will compete for a place at the Finals – to be held at Scotstoun in December - by accumulating ranking points during the season.

This mirrors the Tennis Scotland Open Tour, which thanks to significant and much-appreciated sponsorship, currently sees 19 Leaderboard events held from January-November with 16 men and 16 women qualifying for the Finals.

Under the expansion, Tennis Scotland are now incorporating existing events into a second-tier Challenge Tour, as well as a Junior Tour for the 12U and 16U age groups.

TS Challenge Tour

The TS Challenge Tour will include the following level of events:

  • Open singles weeklong Grade 4
  • Open singles one-day Grade 4
  • Open singles Fast 4 Regional Tour Grade 3

Leaderboard

  • Grade 4 ranking points will be awarded for all events, including Fast 4 Regional Tour

TS Challenge Tour Finals

  • The top 7 players from the Leaderboard qualify for the Finals, with 1 wildcard available
  • To be eligible for a wildcard, a player must have played in at least 1 Challenge Tour event
  • Players who qualify for both TS Open Tour and Challenge Tour Finals will automatically be placed in Open Tour event

A 12U & 16U tour incorporating the following level of events:

  • Players may only earn Leaderboard points from each respective age group singles. E.g. 12U players earn Leaderboard points from 12U singles events, but not from 14U events should they decide to play up an age group. Players may still compete in multiple age groups where a competition allows for this
  • Ranking points won from all above events will contribute to a Leaderboard position

TS Junior Tour Finals

  • 8 player-event, acceptances taken from:
    • Top 5 players from Leaderboard
    • Best placed Scottish player from the 12U and 16U Lexus Scottish Junior Open – where 2 or more players reach the same round, the player with the better LTA ranking at time of the event will receive the space
    • Winners of Scottish Junior Nationals - 12U and 16U singles.
    • 1 Wildcard
  • To be eligible for acceptance, all players must have played in 4 qualifying events at any age group in the same calendar year
  • Where a linked space is not used, the next player on the leaderboard will be offered a space in the finals
