Barlow & McIntosh claim titles at North East of Scotland Championship, as Duncan reaches ATP final

• 3 minute read

Heather Barlow and Euan McIntosh were the champions at the second event of the year on the Tennis Scotland Open Tour.

The Tour was at Aberdeen Tennis Centre for the CNR North East of Scotland Championship as players competed for vital Leaderboard points.

In the women’s event, second seed Barlow and her opponent, fourth seed Kirsty Robertson, both reached the final without dropping a set, before playing out a hard-fought battle which saw Barlow prevail 5-7, 6-4, 10-2.

Seventh seed McIntosh came through a gripping semi-final to claim his place in the men’s decider, fighting off match points to beat Nicolas Rosenzweig 3-6, 7-6, 11-9.

That set up a final with top seed Nemanja Malesevic which also went the distance, McIntosh coming through 7-5, 2-6, 10-7.

Next up on the TS Open Tour is the Scottish Indoor Open Championships at the University of Stirling from 13-15 March.

Duncan reaches final on ATP Challenger Tour

On the pro circuit, Scott Duncan reached his first final of the year at the ATP Challenger Tour event in Metepec, Mexico.

Duncan teamed with Ben Jones and progressed to the decider without dropping a set, but they fell just short in the final, ending up as runners-up to Pranav Kumar and Karl Poling 2-6, 3-6.
