Safeguarding
We strive to ensure that all children, young people and adults at risk are safeguarded from abuse and have an enjoyable tennis experience.
Everyone who is involved in tennis has a shared responsibility to support this by promoting the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk.
As a grant and loan making charity, the LTA Tennis Foundation has limited direct contact with children and adults at risk. However, we prioritise and integrate safeguarding within our internal practices. By adopting this approach to funding, foundations like ours can play a critical role in promoting practices and organisational cultures which keep people safe.
Here's an overview of what we're doing to ensure children, young people and adults at risk are safeguarded from abuse:
- The LTA Tennis Foundation board of trustees have formally adopted the LTA’s policies for safeguarding children and adults at risk.
- Under an agreement between the LTA Tennis Foundation and the LTA, the LTA’s Safeguarding Team provide safeguarding services to the LTA Tennis Foundation.
- The LTA Tennis Foundation makes safeguarding templates and resources available to beneficiaries and partners of our Charity Network.
- The LTA’s Safeguarding Team assess all Grant Making Framework funding applications, providing advice where necessary. Applications are only approved if safeguarding standards are met.
- The LTA Tennis Foundation’s board of trustees are undertaking appropriate safeguarding training and will do so every three years.
- The LTA Tennis Foundation board of trustees are currently considering appointing a safeguarding lead trustee.
