Batchwood Tennis Centre in St Albans boasts a vibrant and diverse tennis programme incorporating both recreational and performance tennis. Among the various Tennis programmes on offer are:

•A popular recreational programme for kids and adults
•Inclusive tennis
•Pay and Play groups
•Holiday Camps
•The very popular and successful Hertfordshire Tennis “Pathway to Tarbes” scheme.

We are seeking to recruit a reliable and enthusiastic self-employed coach that will assist in both the delivery, expansion and development of the community tennis programme that is run throughout the year at the centre. This is delivered on 6 indoor courts and 3 outdoor courts.

The successful candidate must not only possess the necessary accreditation but also be proactive and forward thinking. They will be able to work within a well-established team of 12 coaches and be encouraged to develop their coaching career. This may be achieved with financial assistance in gaining further accreditation and through mentorship within our team of coaches. The qualifications within the team range from Level 3 to Level 5 senior performance coaches.

We can offer a competitive rate with the opportunity to expand into other roles within the centre. Namely, individual lessons, assisting performance squads and running tournaments.

The successful candidate will work within the community programme, encompassing all junior tennis stages and all levels of adults. They will also be assisting the Community Lead coach in developing links with the LTA and Local schools. It is also a requirement that the successful candidate can provide flexibility and offer cover for other coaches.

It will be the responsibility of the candidate to work closely with the Tennis Manager, the coaching team, General Manager and Front of House staff.

The venue at Batchwood offers a diverse range of sports which include:

•An extensive gym
•An 18-Hole golf course

The centre is a Local Council facility run by Everyone Active. The successful candidate will be able to use all facilities, free of charge (excl Bowls, Judo/Karate).

This means a person who can help share our vision and grow our programme by delivering excellence.
The role requires excellent communication skills, a good understanding of tennis techniques and strategies, and a passion for helping players achieve their full potential.
•Minimum Level 2 or upwards Accredited/Accredited+
•Reliable and professional with good administration skills
•Prior experience
•Proficient playing level with good fundamental technique
•Good knowledge of tennis techniques
•Flexible working hours (after school and Saturdays) and school holidays
•Flexibility to offer cover when needed
•Ability to work within a team and have a proactive attitude
•Ensure proper care and maintenance of tennis equipment and facilities
•Maintain a safe and organised environment for players and colleagues
•Manage your CPD
