Katie Boulter nominated for WTA ‘Most Improved Player of the Year’ at 2023 awards

• 1 MINUTE READ

British No.1 Katie Boulter has been nominated for the ‘Most Improved Player of the Year’ award at the annual WTA Player Awards for 2023.

The awards recognize the top performers across the season, with awards in five categories: Player of the Year, Doubles Team of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year.

The winners are voted for by international members of the tennis media.

The ‘Most Improved Player of the Year’ award acknowledges players who have finished the season inside the WTA top 100 and/or showed significant improvement throughout the season.

Boulter is one of five players nominated for the award coming off the back of her most successful season to date. The 27-year-old won her first career WTA title at the Rothesay Open Nottingham and has also made the third rounds at Wimbledon and the US Open this year.

The Brit returned to the top 100 for the first time since 2019 and has since gone on to reach a new career-high ranking at world No.50 back in September.
