Jack Draper: Season in Review

• 2 MINUTE READ

This year Jack Draper transformed from an exciting rising prospect to a genuine contender at the biggest tournaments on the ATP Tour.

The British No.1 entered the 2025 season with renewed expectations as a two-time ATP title-winner, ranked No.15 in the world and having reached a Grand Slam semi-final for the first time.

Draper set out to build on that momentum this year, and that he did, with the 23-year-old cementing himself amongst the world’s best players by cracking into the top 10 for the first time, lifting his maiden Masters 1000 title and reaching two further tour-level finals.

While his season was cut short in September after picking up an injury at the US Open, it was a season to remember for Draper and we’re here to look back on all of the highlights from a standout 2025.

Jack Draper’s 2025 season by numbers:

  • Titles won: 1 (Indian Wells – Masters 1000)
  • Career-high ranking: 4 (June 2025)
  • Tournaments played: 11
  • Win-loss record: 30-9
  • Aces: 325
  • Finals reached: 3 – Indian Wells (Masters 1000), Mutua Madrid Open (Masters 1000 – runner up), Qatar Open (ATP 500 – runner-up)
  • Notable milestones: Achieved 100 ATP Tour level wins, became the youngest British man in the Open Era to reach finals on hard, clay and grass surfaces, reached the semi-finals of the mixed doubles event at the US Open with Jessica Pegula

Jack Draper’s biggest win of the 2025 season:

Draper’s best win of the year came at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, where he defeated then world No.3 Carlos Alcaraz to reach his first Masters 1000 final.

Heading into the match, Draper was trailing the Spaniard 3-1 in their head-to-head and was forced to retire in their most recent meeting at the Australian Open. However, Draper went out to seek revenge against the second seed – pushing him to three sets and claiming a 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 win.

Jack Draper’s defining moment in 2025:

From downing the world No.3 in the semi-finals, to gliding to a career-first Masters 1000 title – Draper’s victory in the Californian desert was undoubtedly the defining moment of his 2025 season.

It was a stellar campaign from the British No.1 who dropped just one set on his way to lifting the silverware. The 23-year-old clocked victories over rising star Joao Fonseca, Jensen Brooksby, former US Open runner-up Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Alcaraz on his way to the final where he pulled off a masterclass to beat Denmark’s Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2.

It was a coming-of-age moment for Draper, who became only the fifth British player to win an ATP Masters 1000 title following on from Greg Rusedski, Tim Henman, Andy Murray and Cam Norrie.

The victory also catapulted him into the world’s top 10 for the first time in his career, with the win acting as a springboard for an impressive run of form over the following months, including reaching his first clay court final at the Mutua Madrid Open.

Jack Draper’s 2025 Grand Slam results:

Draper managed to save some of his best performances for the big stage this year, recording tournament best runs at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros.

  • Australian Open: Fourth round (lost vs Carlos Alcaraz, 7-5, 6-1 ret.) (tournament best)
  • Roland Garros: Fourth round (lost vs Alexander Bublik 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4) (tournament best)
  • Wimbledon: Second round (lost vs Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4)
  • US Open: Second round (withdrew before second round match due to injury)

Jack Draper’s funniest moment:

Draper has been putting in the hours on the practice court at the National Tennis Centre during the off season but some sessions have looked a little different than others.

During October, the British No.1, and a few of his fellow Brits, were caught off guard by a spooky spectator watching on from the sidelines.

This year’s grass court swing saw Draper reach his first semi-final at the HSBC Championships at the Queen’s Club – a tournament he frequently visited as a youngster.

Coming in as the second seed, the 23-year-old made a strong start to his campaign – battled through to the final four before his run came to an end at the hands of Jiri Lehecka.

That said, Draper cherished the experience of competing back on home soil and soaked up every moment of the atmosphere from the supportive British crowd.

Here’s the moment he walked back into the historic clubhouse after clinching his opening round win over Jenson Brooksby on the Andy Murray Arena.

Jack Draper’s quote of the year:

I feel more confident in myself, more calmer, walking around the tournaments thinking I belong a bit more at the top level, among the top-ranked players. It just feels great, (it’s) a dream come true

What’s next for Jack Draper in 2026?

After being forced to miss out on the remainder of the 2025 season due to injury, Draper will be hoping to return to the match court with a bang when the new season begins in January.

The three-time ATP title-winner will begin his season down under at the United Cup. Draper and Emma Raducanu are the first players announced for the Great Britain team. From there, he’s set to compete at the Australian Open where he’ll be looking to surpass this year’s run of the fourth round.
