Brits complete title sweep at the Lexus GB Pro Series Nottingham 2023

 2 MINUTE READ

The eighth men’s event of the 2023 LTA Performance Competition Calendar at the Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre concluded over the weekend with four Brits in finals action at the M25 ITF World Tennis Tour event.

In the men’s singles, Toby Samuel lifted the title without dropping a set. In the final Samuel faced fellow Brit Billy Harris, the third seed, who recently reached the final round of Wimbledon qualifying.

The match finished one minute before the rain began, with 20-year-old Samuel taking his first title of 2023, 6-4, 6-4. “I played really well this week, I was very happy with my performances, especially from moving to hard from grass, it is never easy. This is a great site, great facility here, and I really enjoyed my time and all the people here this week.”

The all-British doubles final was not played as Joel Pierleoni had to withdraw due to a back injury. This meant that Charles Broom and Ben Jones took the title. This was the pairs first win together.

LTA Tournament Director Vsevolod Kevlych looks ahead to the event saying: “It is great to have so much British interest in the draws with these events in Nottingham providing plenty of competitive playing opportunities and ranking points. It was a great week for the Brits. Congratulations to Toby, Charles and Ben.”

LTA tournaments such as the ITF M25 Nottingham are about providing British players with the chance to develop on home soil through more meaningful playing opportunities, giving all players the widest possible number of competitive matches on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
