Jan Choinski has claimed his first ATP Challenger title of the season after taking home the ATP Challenger 50 title in Troyes, France.
Choinski lost out in a tight second set tie-break but bounced back in the third to wrap up a 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2 win over second seed and home favourite Calvin Hemery.
The International de Tennis de Troyes crown now marks Choinski’s fourth Challenger title of his career.
The victory caps off an impressive week for the British No.7 who kick-started the week with straight set victories over Theo Papamalamis, Branko Djuric and Harold Mayot to set up a semi-final clash against Argentina's Marco Trungelliti.
His match against the Argentine proved a tougher challenge than his opening matches, with the 29-year-old edging a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win to secure a spot in the final and a meeting against Hemery.
There, he broke the Frenchman four times, including twice in the decider, before closing out the victory on his first match point with a hold to love.
Following the win, Choinski has now risen 27 places in the ATP live rankings up to world No.173 and will look to build on that heading into his next ATP Challenger event in Braunschweig this week.
