Which British players will be competing at the Lexus Eastbourne Open 2025?

British No.2 and former US Open champion Emma Raducanu will return to the south coast this summer, hoping to build on her quarter-final appearance on debut last year.

Raducanu has proved a formidable player on the grass having also made the semi-final in Nottingham and fourth round of Wimbledon in 2024.

Joining her will be hometown favourite Sonay Kartal – competing in Eastbourne for the first time in her career. The Brighton-native has soared up the rankings over the last 12 months inside the world’s top 60, thanks to a first WTA title in Monastir, a fourth round run in Indian Wells and a Billie Jean King Cup debut.

On the men’s side, rising star Jacob Fearnley will be one to watch after an impressive start to life on the ATP Tour. Having won the title in Nottingham last summer in his first match out of college, Fearnley has impressed with a third round run at the Australian Open and has picked up wins in ATP Masters 1000 events in Miami, Madrid and Rome.

Who else is competing at the Lexus Eastbourne Open 2025?

Both defending champions, Daria Kasatkina and Taylor Fritz are confirmed to play at the Lexus Eastbourne Open this summer.

Kasatkina – an eight-time WTA singles title winner – is one of the most dangerous grass court players on tour, having made the final twice in Eastbourne and once in Birmingham.

Reigning Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova is also scheduled to feature in the women's draw as she continues her comeback from injury.

Meanwhile, Fritz has three Eastbourne titles to his name and is the most successful player in the tournament’s recent history. The American made his first Grand Slam final at the US Open last year and comes into the tournament as the highest ranked player.

He’ll be joined by last year’s runner-up Francisco Cerundolo, as well as 19-year-old Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik and Brazil’s Joao Fonseca, who is quickly becoming one of the most talked about names in the sport.

Who are the reigning Lexus Eastbourne Open champions?

In 2024, Fritz claimed his third Eastbourne title with a win over Francisco Cerundolo, meanwhile Kasatkina went one better than her final appearance the year before by defeating Leylah Fernandez to lift the trophy.

Here’s a rundown of all the reigning champions:

  • Women's singles - Daria Kasatkina (AUS)
  • Men's singles - Taylor Fritz (USA)
  • Women's doubles - Jelena Ostapenko (LAT) & Lyudmyla Kichenok (UKR)

Past British performances at Lexus Eastbourne Open

Virginia Wade is the only British woman to have won the title in Eastbourne – defeating Billie Jean King in the 1975 final 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Wade also finished runner-up to USA’s Chris Evert in 1974 and 1976.

In doubles, Jo Durie made the final twice in 1983 with fellow Brit Anne Hobbs, and in 1984 with Ann Kiyomura but on both occasions lost to US duo Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver on their run of six straight titles.

There has been more success in the men’s doubles. In 2012 Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins became the first Brits to lift the title against countrymen Jamie Delgado and Ken Skupski.

Dom Inglot went on to win it in 2014 with Treat Huey, beating Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares in the final. In 2019 Jonny O’Mara and Luke Bambridge overcame brothers Neal and Ken Skupski 7-5, 6-4 to win the title, but last year, Neal Skupski managed to lift the trophy alongside Michael Venus.
