Great Britain to face Australia, France and Switzerland in 2023 Davis Cup Finals Group Stages

Great Britain will take on Australia, France and Switzerland in Group B at the 2023 Davis Cup Finals Group Stages.

The Group B matches will take place at the AO Arena in Manchester between 12 - 17 September 2023.

Each nation will play three times over the six-day competition, with the top two nations from each of the four groups advancing to the quarter-final knock-out competition, which will be held in Malaga between 21 - 26 November.

Great Britain’s Davis Cup captain, Leon Smith reacted to the draw, saying “It’s a really competitive group with four big nations that all have strength in depth. We’ve got great belief in our team, the players are hungry and can’t wait to make the most of playing at home in Manchester.”

Great Britain last took on France in 2021, where they came out on top in a 2-1 win after Dan Evans and Cam Norrie clinched victories against Adrian Mannarino and Arthur Rinderknech respectively.

Australia will be looking to go one step further in this year's Davis Cup after missing out on the title to Canada in the 2022 final. The last time Great Britain faced Australia was at the 2015 semi-finals - a tie which saw the Brits claim a 3-2 victory and later go on to lift their first Davis Cup trophy in 79 years.

This year’s group stages will also mark the first meeting between Great Britain and Switzerland since the play-offs in 2005 when the Swiss team eased past the Brits in a 5-0 victory.
