LTA Director of Events, Chris Pollard: “This is the first time Davis Cup action has been played in Manchester since 1994 so we hope the city’s tennis fans, or anyone looking for a great sporting day out, will come to the AO Arena and cheer on the Lexus Great Britain Davis Cup team. The Davis Cup is known for electrifying crowds as passionate fans cheer on their nations and we can’t wait to bring that unique experience to Manchester.”

Councillor John Hacking, Executive Member for Skills, Employment, and Leisure, Manchester City Council, said: "We're buzzing for the Davis Cup here in Manchester and can't wait to welcome the tournament to the city.

"Whether you're new to the game or already an ardent fan it's a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see top tennis action play out in the heart of the city centre."

The multi-year agreement between the LTA and the International Tennis Federation to host a Group Stage in Britain is on the basis that Britain qualifies or receives a wild card for the finals in each of those years. It is very much part of our strategic vision to further open up tennis to more audiences by taking events to different parts of the country. Leon Smith’s GB team secured their place in the Group Stages having defeated Colombia 3-1 away in February.

Manchester is the fifth different city to host the Davis Cup in Britain over the last 10 years, joining Coventry, Glasgow, London and Birmingham. In 2015, Britain won the Davis Cup for the first time in 79 years, reaching two more semi-finals and two quarter-finals since then.
