British No.1 Johanna Konta is set to star at all three British tournaments this summer in the lead up to Wimbledon.

This is the third year in a row that Konta will play a hat-trick of British grass court tournaments as part of her preparation for The Championships, Wimbledon. The two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist, who is expected to headline a strong GB Fed Cup team against Kazakhstan at Copper Box Arena (20-21 April), has enjoyed some of the best results of her career on British grass.

Highlights include reaching the final of Nottingham in 2017 and 2018, upsetting the world No.1 Angelique Kerber in the quarter-finals at Eastbourne in 2017, and securing a semi-final spot at SW19 the same year, which in turn meant she celebrated a career high ranking of world No.4.

Who said what?

Johanna Konta, British No.1

“I’m really excited to be returning to play these fantastic tournaments this summer.  The grass court season is one of my favourites and nothing compares to competing at home with passionate fans, friends and family, who are behind you all the way.

“There is always a strong player field in Nottingham, Birmingham and Eastbourne with no easy matches. I really hope the fans come out to support me and the other players all the way. These tournaments also provide me with the perfect pathway to Wimbledon.”

Stephen Farrow, the LTA’s Director of International Events and Professional Game

“After a fantastic 2018 which saw all our grass court events deliver record ticket sales and outstanding player fields, 2019 is about building on that success and making our tournaments even bigger and better.

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome back our British No.1 to play the three WTA pre-Wimbledon British grass court events. Not only is Johanna a world-class player, but she’s a crowd favourite and is certain to receive a warm welcome in Nottingham, Birmingham and of course her hometown of Eastbourne.”
