YPWA Tasks
Well done for completing your training modules. Next steps are the tasks and this is where you can get creative!
The adult who is supporting you from your venue will receive a link to a safeguarding survey to be shared by your venue with all venue users, so please highlight this to them and support where needed to share this.
- There are 6 themes, each with a choice of 3 tasks.
- You must choose a minimum of 1 task from each theme - you can do them all if you want to!
- Talk to your supporting adult about these and how you both think you can implement them.
- Remember, you have 12 months to complete the programme, so don't worry if you have other commitments with exams or coursework - focus on them and pick this up as and when you can throughout the year.
Details of the tasks are available below and some resources you may wish to use can be found at the bottom of the page. You can download the full list of tasks as one document from here:
Use the button below to upload your task evidence - you can choose whether to upload each time you have finished a task or wait until you've done them all and then upload.

Think about where you want to locate your noticeboard and what information you want to promote. Key posters are in the resources section. Take some photos and upload to us for evidence. |

How will people know how to report a concern and who to speak to? What information will they need to be able to access? Take some screenshots and share the link to the page when you upload your evidence. |

Think back to your online training modules. You could promote key campaigns and use existing materials. Perhaps develop shorts or reels delivering key information about safeguarding at your venue. Take some screenshots and share the links to the pages when you upload your evidence. |

Your first newsletter could be introducing yourself and your Welfare Officer and explaining what your plans are. You could ask your venue to email these out or send via Whatsapp to venue users. Perhaps you could save them on your venue website for people to access later. Upload your newsletters for us to see. |

Find out what topics are important to juniors at your venue and use these to plan your podcasts. Your first one would be another great opportunity to introduce yourself in your role and share your plans. Send us the links - we can't wait to hear! |

What information do you wish you knew about your venue when you first joined? It will be important to make sure juniors know who you and your Welfare Officer are so make sure to include that! Upload it for us to take a look. |

This year at our National Safeguarding Conference, we would like a YPWA (or 2) to interview a panel of parents (some you may recognise!). Use this task as an opportunity so show off your interview skills! Be sure to mention if you are interested in taking part in the conference when you upload your video. |

Think about what you want people to learn. You may want to do this as part of a pre-existing venue event or standalone. Could people win prizes for taking part? Consider how you might deliver it for example on paper or a quiz app. Upload details of your event or quiz, including photos and the questions! We would love to have a go. |

We have a wordsearch and colouring page in the resources section. Could you make your own? Or create a venue mascot that could help you to deliver key safeguarding messages to younger children? Upload documents and photos to show us what you come up with. |

Use this as an opportunity to show off all your hard work! Be creative! This year, at our National Safeguarding Conference we want to use your videos to share with everyone how fantastic you YPWAs are. Please upload your video and comment to confirm you are happy for us to use your video. |

It's great to have you and your venue involved in the programme. Work with your supporting adult to present what you plan to do and how the committee or management may be able to help you. You may want to present this on PowerPoint or in a different way! Upload your presentation, including photos or even a video of you delivering it. |

Meeting you and your Welfare Officer will help children and their parents to know who you are and understand your role. Think about how you can engage them in what you are sharing - could you make a game or have anything to hand out for them to keep? Upload photos (with consent from parents) and share any materials with us. |

All LTA registered venues and their venue users are required to follow the LTA Code of Conduct - available here. What type of things are important to juniors at your venue? Can you create a junior Code of Conduct which supports these? Upload your Code of Conduct and any research you completed to develop it. |

This is an opportunity for junior members to come together to make a difference. You will need to work with your supporting adult and exisiting committee/management to establish a clear remit. Share with us how you have identified your group, ways of working and what you have done so far. You can upload photos, documents or even videos. |

What will juniors want to find in an area just for them? How can you display important information in this area to keep them notified? Some venues have bars which may not be suitable for children to be around, is there a space somewhere else that could be just for kids? Share with us how you developed your area and upload photos of the finished space! |

There's lots of opportunities for juniors to feedback, for example at the end of coaching sessions, holiday camp days, end of the season, when leaving the venue - these are just a few. Think about how you can gather this feedback. You might want to consider online or paper forms, suggestion box, balls in buckets or feelings tennis balls. Get creative and upload what you come up with! |
