Nominations for the Tennis Wales and LTA Tennis Awards are now open

Want to recognise an outstanding individual, club or tennis venue in your network?

In collaboration with the LTA, Tennis Wales is delighted to announced that nominations for the Tennis Wales and LTA Tennis Awards are now open.

Designed to recognise the extraordinary contribution of those who help to open the sport up to new audiences, the awards celebrate individuals and venues that make a difference in the local community - from the 25,000 volunteers, to the 4,400 coaches and almost 1,000 officials to over 20,000 schools, 2,700 clubs and over 9,700 LTA approved tournaments across the UK.

Launched in 2015, the LTA Tennis Awards are now in their fifth year, and you can make your Welsh nominations now across one or more of the following categories (view criteria)

  • Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Young Person of the Year Award  : Sponsored by Inspire2Coach for Wales.
  • Coach of the Year Award
  • Club/Centre of the Year Award (£5,000 grant for overall UK winner) : Sponsored by Chiltern Contractors for Wales.
  • Community & Parks Award (£5,000 grant for overall UK winner)
  • Education Award
  • Disability Award
  • Official of the Year Award
  • Competition of the Year Award
  • Lifetime Achievement

In addition to the above categories, Tennis Wales also has 3 extra Welsh specific award categories which we wish to recognise for 2019 (view criteria):

  • Player of the Year Award
  • Club Team of the Year Award
  • Team of the Year Award

All Welsh nominations will go forward to our Tennis Wales judging panel in December, where the Welsh runners up and winners of the above categories will be selected. Following on from the Tennis Wales Awards Ceremony, which is due to be held in Cardiff on Saturday 25th January 2020, the winners of the 10 LTA Categories will then progress to be considered for the national LTA Award shortlist, competing against other County, Regional and National finalists.  

At last years LTA Tennis Awards, four of our Welsh Winners were invited to attend the national ceremony at The Championships, Wimbledon as shortlisted national nominations.  Two of these shortlisted Welsh nominees went on to win the overall national award for Young Person of the Year and Competition of the Year. 

Simon Johnson, CEO of Tennis Wales said: “Across Wales, there are incredible people doing incredible things to deliver tennis. The Tennis Wales Awards are a superb way to recognise those people, thank them, and reward them for their work in our sport. I’d love to see more people than ever being nominated for an award in 2019”.
