One of the highlights of the Scottish domestic calendar saw more than 100 young players come together for the Scottish Inter-District Championships.
Teams featuring boys and girls from eight districts battled it out over four days at Strathallan School.
After nearly 300 matches, ability in abundance and plenty of competitive spirit, West of Scotland were crowned overall champions for the second successive year.
They also claimed the title in the 12U and 15U categories, while the 18U title went to East of Scotland.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to a fantastic week of tennis for players, coaches, officials and volunteers.
Hignett and Haagensen win at wet Whitecraigs
The elements played their part but couldn’t spoil one of the most-anticipated events on the Tennis Scotland Open Tour calendar.
Despite the difficult conditions, the Whitecraigs Easter Tournament was completed with the help of nearby Newlands Lawn Tennis Club.
In the men’s singles, Liam Hignett secured his first title of the TS Open Tour season, beating Cameron Fryer following the latter’s unfortunate retirement in the final. Hignett fought back from dropping the first set on a tie-break and was leading 3-1 in the third when Fryer was forced to stop.
Mille Haagensen won the women’s title, beating Kirsty Robertson in the final to pick up her maiden Tour win. The second seed battled through two match tie-breaks to reach the final, which she won 6-1, 6-1.
Duncan & Stewart enjoy pro tour title
Scott Duncan and Hamish Stewart also had to endure the elements as they clinched a pro tour doubles title in Greece.
After sandstorms suspended their first-round match, the pair raced through the draw and claimed the ITF M25 Heraklion trophy with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Alex Jones and Miles Jones.
One week later, Stewart reached the final of the singles at the same venue, narrowly losing out in a tight 6-7, 5-7 defeat to Gabriel Ghetu.
