14 MINUTE READ

By creating an LTA online account and applying to join Advantage you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

References to “we”, “us” and “our” in these Terms and Conditions should be construed as references to the LTA. Any references to “you” or “your” shall be construed as references to an Advantage member and/or LTA account holder.

1. Use of the LTA Website and LTA Account

1.1 Your use of the LTA website (www.lta.org.uk) (the “Website”), including the Advantage section of it, and your LTA online account (“LTA Account”), shall be subject to the Website’s terms of use, the current version of which can be found here (“Terms of Use”), and any other terms and conditions which may apply to any websites, channels or applications which you may access through your LTA Account.

1.2 You agree that these Terms and Conditions incorporate the Terms of Use and any other terms and conditions which may apply to any websites, channels or applications which you may access through your LTA Account, as may be amended or replaced from time to time.

2. Advantage

2.1 By creating an LTA Account you are applying to become a member of Advantage. Advantage is the LTA British Tennis Membership scheme currently provided for in Rule 43 of the Lawn Tennis Association Limited’s Rules (as may be superseded or replaced from time to time). The Advantage membership scheme is provided by LTA Operations Limited. These Terms & Conditions apply to your application for and, where applicable, purchase of Advantage membership from LTA Operations Limited (the “LTA”), a company registered in England and Wales (registered no. 07475460) whose registered address is 100 Priory Lane, Roehampton, London SW15 5JQ. The registered VAT number of LTA Operations Limited is GB115105662.

2.2 Advantage was launched in January 2021, replacing the LTA membership scheme formerly known as British Tennis Membership.

3. Advantage Categories

3.1 There are currently five categories of Advantage membership (which are subject to change at the LTA’s discretion):

3.1.1 Fan (Adult only);

3.1.2 Fan Plus (Adult only);

3.1.3 Play (Adult or Junior);

3.1.4 Play Plus (Adult or Junior); and

3.1.5 Compete (Adult or Junior).

3.2 Within each of Play, Play Plus and Compete there are two different categories of membership: (i) Adult membership, for those aged 18 and above on the date on which their application is processed (“Adult”); and (ii) Junior membership, for those aged between 4 and 17 years on the date on which their application is processed (“Junior”). Fan and Fan Plus are available only to Adults.

3.3 If you become an Advantage member in any category you will be eligible to receive certain benefits, as published on the Website from time to time. The nature, quantity, duration and (where relevant) price of the relevant benefits are subject to change over time at the sole and absolute discretion of the LTA (and in accordance with paragraph 5.5 below).

3.4 Fan (Adult only). These are individuals who have created an LTA Account and are eligible for the free of charge category of Fan, and are accepted by the LTA as a Fan member once they have verified their email address within the LTA Account creation process.

3.5 Fan Plus (Adult only). These are individuals who pay the annual membership fee for the Fan Plus package, and are accepted by the LTA as a Fan Plus member by way of an email confirmation sent by the LTA.

3.6 Play (Adult or Junior). These are individuals who have indicated that they are a ‘player’ or have an intention to compete in tennis/padel competitions (but who are not eligible for Play Plus), and have applied for or been migrated to the free of charge category of Play and are accepted by the LTA as a Play member by way of an email confirmation sent by the LTA.

3.7 Play Plus (Adult or Junior). These are individuals who are eligible for Play Plus by virtue of being an annual, monthly, termly or seasonal member/subscriber of an LTA registered venue (which pays a fee for venue registration and which operates a subscription or membership model), and are accepted by the LTA as a Play Plus member by way of an email confirmation sent by the LTA. In the case of LTA registered venues that are multisport clubs, only tennis and padel members / subscribers (which may include players, volunteers and tennis/padel social members) of those registered venues are eligible to apply for Play Plus. In relation to tennis or padel specific registered venues, social members / subscribers of those registered venues are eligible to apply for Play Plus.
There is no cost for this membership however you will no longer be eligible for Play Plus, and will be automatically migrated to Play, if: (i) you terminate your membership / subscription of the registered venue; or (ii) the venue no longer pays a fee for venue registration and/or no longer operates an annual/ monthly/termly or seasonal subscription or membership model; or (iii) either the registered venue terminates or fails to renew its registration to the LTA, or the LTA terminates, suspends or prohibits renewal of the venue’s LTA registration. You must notify the LTA of any termination of your membership / subscription with the registered venue, or any change in your registered venue. Subject to your LTA registered venue renewing its paid registration with the LTA and continuing to operate a subscription or membership model, and you remaining a qualifying member / subscriber of such registered venue, your Play Plus membership will renew automatically each year.

3.8 Compete (Adult or Junior). These are individuals who pay the annual membership fee (for Adult or Junior, as applicable) for the Compete package and are accepted by the LTA as a Compete member by way of an email confirmation sent by the LTA.

3.9 You may hold Play and Fan Plus membership categories together, or Play Plus and Fan Plus membership categories together, provided that you meet the relevant eligibility criteria and pay any applicable fee for each of those categories applied for. Where multiple categories are held by the same individual this shall be considered one single Advantage membership.

3.10 Whichever category/ies of Advantage you join, your membership will commence on the day that your membership in the particular category is accepted by the LTA.

4. Auto-renewal of paid membership

4.1 If you purchased a paid-for category of Advantage membership your membership in that category will renew automatically each year on the anniversary of you being accepted as a member in that category.

4.2 This means that the LTA will automatically take payment on your renewal date (which is the date set out in your online Advantage area) at the rate set out on the Website on your renewal date, except where you have cancelled automatic renewal or we do not hold valid payment card details for you.

4.3 You can cancel automatic renewal of your paid-for Advantage membership at any time prior to your renewal date in the ‘Manage Payment’ section online in your Advantage area, or by contacting the LTA via: https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/contact-us/.

4.4 If your paid-for category of Advantage membership is not renewed, you will automatically be migrated to a free category of Advantage membership based on your eligibility (where applicable).

5. General Terms of Advantage

5.1 Advantage membership, in any category, does not entitle you to attend or vote at LTA General Meetings or Council Meetings and does not affiliate you to the LTA in any way.

5.2 Advantage membership is non-transferable and any membership identification or account logon details may only be used by you.

5.3 As set out at paragraph 3.9 of these Terms and Conditions, you may hold Advantage membership in more than one category at the same time if you meet the relevant eligibility criteria, however this shall be considered one single membership. You are not entitled to hold more than one Advantage membership in any particular category.

5.4 Persons under 18 years of age at the date their application is processed are only eligible for the Junior membership categories set out above in these terms (as appropriate and subject to the eligibility criteria) and must have parental/guardian consent to apply for Advantage membership.

5.5 Any benefits and services that may be made available to you by the LTA pursuant to your Advantage membership are at the sole and absolute discretion of the LTA and are subject to change or withdrawal at any time without notice to you. The LTA shall determine (in its absolute discretion) which benefits and services fall within the relevant categories of Advantage membership from time to time.

5.6 The LTA reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion and without assigning a reason, to refuse any application or renewal and to suspend, restrict or cancel the Advantage membership of any person at any time. The LTA is not obliged to provide reasons for any action taken under this paragraph 5.6. However, potential reasons include, but are not limited to, an individual being in breach of these Terms and Conditions or such terms and conditions as may be applicable to any benefit(s) of your Advantage membership, or any further regulations and conditions from time to time prescribed, a decision of a relevant (judged by the LTA) body, panel or committee (for example, one of the LTA’s panels or committees) or in the reasonable opinion of the LTA an individual being guilty of conduct which is detrimental to the reputation of the LTA or is detrimental to the interests of the game of tennis or is otherwise offensive or dishonest in dealings with the LTA.

5.7 If payment is required for your Advantage membership and you are paying by debit or credit card we must receive full details of your debit/credit card with your online application. On receipt of your application we will debit your debit/credit card for the price. However, our acceptance of your application remains subject to our approval. We will confirm by email that your application has been accepted by us. If we cannot accept your application and we have taken payment, we will confirm that your debit/credit card has been re-credited.

5.8 Our acceptance of your application brings into existence a legally binding contract between us.

5.9 As we are a UK organisation, all charges advertised (unless otherwise indicated) are in Pounds Sterling. If you are purchasing from overseas, your card issuer will convert the charge into your local currency. The Advantage application process and these Terms and Conditions have been designed for use within the United Kingdom. Whilst we will consider requests for services from outside the United Kingdom, we give no warranty, expressed or implied, that the application process or the making of any application from outside the UK, complies with any applicable non-UK laws or regulations. Accordingly, any products or promotions not permitted under your local law are not offered to you. Furthermore, we reserve the right to refuse any application at our discretion from overseas customers and we will have no obligation to provide you with any reasons for refusing an order.

6. Prices and Delivery Charges

6.1 Where you apply for or auto renew a paid-for category of Advantage, the prices payable for the Advantage membership provided to you are the prices set out on the Website on the date of your application or renewal. These prices are subject to change.

6.2 Our prices are inclusive of VAT.

6.3 Any overpayment of Advantage membership fees may not be reclaimed after six months have elapsed from the date of the overpayment.

7. Termination / Cancellation
