LTA Registered venues have public liability insurance in place to cover pickleball activity. 'Activity' here is defined as activation based sessions, taster sessions, social tennis, and club nights. These are generally volunteer run / free sessions. 

If coaching is being advertised and delivered, the individual leading that activity should arrange to have their own public liability insurance in place for coaching. This is important because the individual (not the venue) could be sued directly.

If you hold a Pickleball coach qualification from an external non-LTA body, and are not a member of the Coach Accrediation scheeme, you can: 

a) Undertake an LTA Tennis or Padel Coach Qualification so that you can become LTA Accredited. By becoming LTA Accredited, you will have public liability insurance as a coach under the LTA that includes pickleball coaching. The combination of your pickleball training and LTA coach qualifications will mean you are deemed competent and therefore insured to deliver pickleball coaching.

b) Purchase public liability insurance from an organisation that offers pickleball coach insurance or purchase appropriate sport coach public liability insurance.

Note: If an LTA registered venue is deploying an individual for any activity (coaching or activating) and that individual is not LTA Accredited, the venue should ensure standards for deployment (first aid, safeguarding trained & Criminal record checks) are in place on the standard three year cycle.

Note 2: The LTA do not review, endorse nor assimilate pickleball coach qualifications at this time, nor offer a route into Coach Accreditation for Pickleball qualified coaches at this time. LTA Accredited coaches can however access a pickleball CPD course to upskill and learn more. There is an online course available on the LTA website here, with a face to face option becoming available in late 2025.
