Target locations for indoor community tennis and padel projects

To establish target locations for new community indoor tennis and padel centres, we modelled data from existing successful Community Indoor Tennis Centre (CITC’s). This helped to identify the demographic type, volume and catchment size to sustain a viable facility.

This modelling was applied across England, Scotland and Wales to establish the target locations.

• The metric identified where tennis demand exceeded 12,500 people within a 20 minute drive time (30 minutes in rural areas) identifying as having an interest in playing tennis. 
• 3.1million people are projected as interested in playing tennis. Tennis and padel demand is calculated as 20% of the population (based on average % of people who have an interest in playing tennis and padel from YouGov LTA tracker).
• Existing tennis centres (community, club and commercial) with 3 courts or more were mapped and catchments protected.
• This modelling was then applied across GB to establish strategic locations for new indoor tennis centres, identifying 96 locations across Britain – 72 in England, 12 in Scotland and 12 in Wales.
