Tennis Coaches
We are looking to appoint 2 coaches into 2 new roles in the team.
These are 22 hour per week roles, and the successful coaches will work a core work programme on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 4 – 7pm and on Saturday or Sunday between 9 – 12pm. Time for meetings, admin and planning will be worked flexibly around the core work programme, as will 3 hours per week on the University of Bristol Tennis Club (UBTC) and 2 hours helping us further develop our junior programme (one with a focus on 10&U junior performance and the other on our junior competition landscape).
These are permanent positions in the UOB Tennis Team.
The focus of the roles will be coaching on our junior programme, leading coaching sessions for children. The coaches are responsible for setting up sessions, registering players, leading excellent sessions every time and working with the wider tennis team on the quality of our programme to make sure all our juniors have the best possible experience and can maximise their potential with us.
2 hours per week will be invested contributing to either our 10&U junior performance programme supported by our Head Coach Junior Performance or helping us further develop our junior competition landscape supported by our Community Tennis Programme Manager.
Areas of focus will include (but are not limited to):
10&U performance
- Record player progress, match results and development milestones
- Identify suitable competitions for our junior players to enter (via their parents) and track results on our performance player tracker
- Working with coaches across the programme identify good practice and build it into our scheme or learning with Head Coach Junior Performance
- Provide constructive and age / stage appropriate feedback to players
Junior competition landscape
- LTA National League – coordinate fixtures with parents, opponents and fixture hosts and help to provide an excellent experience of team competition for our players
- Internal competition weeks – ensure our internal competition weeks and themed seasonal events are delivered well
- Contribute to educating players and parents about the importance of competition alongside a high quality coaching programme and help to signpost juniors (and their parents) to appropriate level events outside of our programme
- Contribute to the design, delivery and development of the UOB Tennis Junior and Wheelchair Tennis Championships
There will also be opportunities to supplement this core work programme on Tuesday and Thursday 930 – 11am (adult groups) and with individual lessons (delivered on a self-employed basis).
The University of Bristol Tennis Team are based at the Tennis Centre at the heart of Coombe Dingle Sports Complex, BS9 2BJ where they work with hundreds of players each week from beginners to BUCS and everything in between.
Our team are incredibly committed, reliable, passionate and knowledgeable and we’re looking for another LTA Accredited, Level 2, 3 or 4 coach to join us on a permanent basis to help us deliver on our programme. If you have experience coaching children (and students – preferable) and are an engaging, passionate and knowledgeable coach we want to hear from you.
Salary - £20,000 based on full time equivalent of £27,644 - £31,637 (plus allowance of £4,553)
