Tennis Coach - Swindon
This is a fantastic opportunity to build a long-term coaching career at our flagship Swindon programme, based across St Marks — our floodlit site and one of the largest single site park tennis venues in the UK — and the developing Quarry Road. It is a vibrant, busy environment with huge demand, and one of the best places in the country to grow as a coach.
This is very much a career-building role. As we continue to develop both St Marks and Quarry Road, you will play a key part in shaping and growing the programme, with the support, structure and progression pathways of a national organisation behind you. For an ambitious coach, the scope to grow your hours, your earnings and your career here is significant.
Starting with a core block of group delivery, the role offers the opportunity to build additional hours and a strong private lesson base as you grow. On-court delivery consists of LTA Youth through to Adult group sessions on a weekly basis — a mixture of established sessions and new sessions you will help develop.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality group coaching and can run a selfemployed coaching business alongside the programme.
Key Responsibilities:
• On-court delivery: deliver tennis coaching across LTA Youth Start, Tennis Express,
Adult sessions and Cardio Tennis.
• Develop school and club links to help grow the coaching programme.
• Build your own private lesson base: develop and run individual coaching on a selfemployed basis alongside the group programme.
Hours & Compensation:
• Part-time role, starting with a core block of group delivery plus the opportunity to add hours as the programme grows.
• Group delivery typically £16–£25 per hour, dependent on qualifications and
experience.
• Build your own private lesson base, typically £35+ per hour, with 100% of selfemployed individual coaching income retained.
• Additional income available from school outreach and camps.
• Both employed and self-employed arrangements are available.
Benefits
• Retain 100% of income from self-employed individual coaching.
• 5 weeks paid holiday (for employed coaches).
• A Personal Development Plan with NTA management, plus funded CPD courses.
• Workplace perks, including cinema and supermarket discounts.
• All necessary equipment provided.
• Racket Ambassadorship with Tecnifibre.
• Adidas sponsorship, including paid clothing and 50% off all Adidas products.
Swindon is on of National Tennis's flagship sites and is one of the largest single-site park tennis venues in the UK, and together with the developing
Quarry Road it makes for a thriving, high-energy environment with exceptional demand. As we continue to invest in and grow both sites, there is real opportunity for the right coach to build a career alongside them. St Marks is also home to our Park Social café and The Racket Factory, making it a genuine community hub for tennis. National Tennis is a Community Interest Company and one of the UK's largest tennis coaching organisations, with over 100 employed coaches delivering across the country.
We offer high-quality, affordable tennis across a portfolio of parks, clubs and indoor centres. We pride ourselves on offering coaches a fantastic base to build a career. That means guaranteed and supported hours, all your equipment provided, a structured Personal Development Plan and funded CPD, and genuine progression. Many of our senior coaches and managers started out on court with us — there are clear pathways into lead coach, head coach and operational and management roles as you grow.
For an ambitious coach this is a real step up: the security and support of a national
organisation, combined with the freedom to build your own private lesson base and grow your income. If you are hungry to develop, we will back you.
The successful applicant will ideally be an LTA Level 2 Accredited coach or above. Level 1 coaches who are working towards their Level 2 will also be considered. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
On-Court:
• Experience as an Accredited LTA Coach, tailoring sessions to a range of skill levels to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
• Commitment to the safety and welfare of all participants, adhering to safeguarding policies and promoting a positive, inclusive sporting environment.
Off-Court Responsibilities:
• Good organisation and planning skills to support programme growth.
• The ability to engage with NTA management, schools, partners and parents.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to problem solve.
General Skills and Qualities:
• Passion and enthusiasm for the game and a minimum of 1 year's experience
delivering a range of coaching sessions.
• A strong customer service ethos and a desire to improve coaching services for all.
• A professional, reliable manner and the ability to work both on your own initiative and
as part of a team.
• A dedication to personal and professional development.
