Padel Trustee - Middlesex Tennis
The growth in padel is booming across the UK and as a result, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join Middlesex Tennis as a Padel Trustee.
The role is a voluntary position, and we are looking for someone who demonstrates an infectious enthusiasm for the sport, preferably as a padel player, coach or official who will establish and implement a vision with pragmatic actions to support the growth and development of padel in North and West London.
Specific responsibilities will include:
•To act as the Middlesex Padel Ambassador
•Represent padel at our Trustee Board Meetings, proactively promoting the sport and regularly sharing padel updates
•Research and collate data on padel venues in the County including LTA registration, key contacts, number of courts, coaches, and inclusive programmes / initiatives
•Encourage all padel venues in the County to register with the LTA and embrace the implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures in their venues
•Support the development and skills of coaches and officials in liaison with the WDC
•Ensure all LTA padel initiatives and other padel playing and training opportunities are communicated and shared with padel venues including any county initiatives.
•Establish and build positive relationships with key members of the padel community
•Ensure there are articles on padel on the County website and that padel features regularly on County social media platforms
•Attend relevant Connect Webinars for updating and sharing good practice
•Register with the LTA County Communications Hub (CCH) and know your way round it
Middlesex Tennis is a registered charity that takes responsibility for the administration and development of tennis and padel throughout the County, from those just thinking of taking up the sports to tournament players of all levels. The County Association affiliates to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and upholds their rules and regulations. We work closely with the LTA to implement their vision of ‘Tennis Opened Up’ and support their mission to transform communities through tennis and padel to make them welcoming, enjoyable and inspiring to everyone.
We are one of the most prominent counties in Great Britain and operate across North and West London. We are at the forefront of the sport; championing inclusivity, innovation, and excellence.
The Middlesex Tennis Board of Trustees is comprised of a group of volunteers, all of whom have a particular interest in tennis and padel and specialist skills relevant to the organisation and its work. Middlesex Tennis has a small team of salaried staff that work with the trustees and other volunteers.
We are looking for a great Padel Trustee who:
•Is an advocate of padel
•Demonstrates an infectious enthusiasm for the sport, preferably as a padel player, coach or official
•Has an understanding of grassroots tennis and padel, venues, professional staff, and volunteers
•Has the ability to build networks with local contacts and communities, including padel facility owners, coaches, volunteers, population-specific organisations (like the local Active Partnership) and funding partners
•Will naturally buy into supporting inclusive aspiration to ensure that people of all backgrounds, abilities and circumstances can engage and thrive through tennis and padel
Personal Attributes:
•Able to work as part of a team of professionals, fellow trustees, volunteers, and partners
•Communicates effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds
•Possesses good organisational and time-management skills to prioritise tasks effectively, including providing reports at quarterly board meetings
