Part-Time Tennis Coach - Gravesham Tennis Club
I am looking for a new coach to help grow the group programme and also meet the demand for private lessons. Due to there only being one coach currently we cannot offer all members or potential new members, private lessons if they want them. As we head into Spring/Summer, the demand will only get higher so I need someone to join me as I start to build a coaching team at the club!
It is only a part-time offer currently but with a view to making it full time if that is what the candidate desired.
I would like the candidate to feel comfortable coaching all levels and ages at the club, from 4-6 year olds groups, through to advanced club level adults and juniors. An advanced playing level and some competitive experience would be ideal however not a necessity.
If the candidate was currently at a stage where they were more confident coaching a certain level and/or age then this wouldn't be a problem providing they are willing to try and grow as a coach.
I would be happy to consider accepting a Level 1 coach if they are planning to progress.
Currently I can offer:
3.25 hrs of Assistant Group Coaching - £15-£16 per hr
8.5 hrs of Leading Group Coaching - £20-£25 per hr
Approx waiting list of a minimum of 5 Private lessons - £23-£34 per hr
Rates dependant on qualifications and experience. I believe that by the end of the summer term the candidate will be able to earn a minimum of £350-£450 per week.
ADMIN- I sometimes need help with admin, so this could be something that is eventually included in the role for extra income, especially if the programme continues to grow at the rate it has.
PROFIT SHARE - I believe that coaches should be rewarded above their hourly rate if they work hard and have a strong retention rate. This could be something that can be added in after a couple terms if deserved.
TENNIS BALLS - Balls will be provided without cost for the first term
Im looking for somebody to start anywhere between APRIL AND JUNE 2026.
Gravesham Tennis Club
Total we have 8 courts, 6 of which are floodlit.
5 new Artificial Clay courts, 3 floodlit.
3 Tarmac courts, all floodlit.
Currently we have over 300 members, including adults and juniors.
On the junior coaching programme we have 152 players as of February 2026. When I came to the club in April 2024, there was 45.
Adult Group sessions are pay as you go, during the winter we have approx 25-30 adults attending group sessions per week on average. Last Summer there was an average of about 40-50.
Currently I do around 15-20 Private lessons per week. With a waiting list of about 15 members. So there is plenty of potential to build a clientele.
It is a great club run by an excellent committee who put a great deal of time and effort into managing and improving the club.
Gravesham has a great community feel and is an enjoyable environment to work in. The communication between coaching team, committee and members is fantastic and leads to a brilliant atmosphere to be a part of.

. Solid Tennis experience

This role is likely suited to someone young who is starting off their career in coaching OR someone who is happy to work a part-time schedule without the need to increase the amount of hours spent on the court coaching currently.
Of course all ages and experience levels will be considered.
I would like the candidate to be able to commit to at least two school terms (approx 6 months) as a minimum agreement.
