King’s Bruton is an HMC co-educational boarding and day school of 370 pupils aged 13–18, located in the historic town of Bruton, Somerset.

Role purpose
The Part-time Tennis Coach will deliver high-quality coaching to pupils across the school, developing their technical skills, tactical understanding and enjoyment of tennis, and supporting the wider games and co-curricular programme on a term-time only basis.

Key duties and responsibilities
Plan, deliver and review engaging tennis coaching sessions for pupils of varying ages and abilities.
Coach for three days per week (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), approximately 5–6 hours per day, including games afternoons, after-school sessions and fixtures as required (term time only).
Develop players’ technical and tactical skills, footwork, fitness and match-play awareness.
Create a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment that promotes effort, enjoyment and good sportsmanship.
Support the organisation and delivery of internal competitions, inter-school fixtures, tennis festivals and holiday programmes where required.
Work collaboratively with PE staff and other coaches to align coaching content with the school’s sports development aims.
Monitor pupil progress, provide constructive feedback and encourage pupils to set and work towards appropriate goals.
Ensure all equipment and facilities used are safe, set up appropriately and left in good order after sessions.
Adhere at all times to school safeguarding, health and safety and risk assessment procedures.
Represent the school professionally, maintaining excellent communication with staff, pupils and (where appropriate) parents.
Experience
Proven experience of coaching children and young people in tennis.
Experience of coaching within a school or club environment; independent school experience is desirable but not essential.
Skills and attributes
Strong technical and tactical knowledge of tennis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an approachable and supportive manner.
Ability to motivate, enthuse and inspire young players of differing abilities.
Well organised, reliable and punctual, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to promoting the values of fair play, respect and participation in sport.

Hours and remuneration
Term time only, three days per week: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (5–6 hours per day).
A competitive hourly or sessional rate will be offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications and training
LTA Level 2 or Level 3 Accredited / Accredited+ Tennis Coach (essential).
Valid LTA accreditation and up-to-date safeguarding training (essential).
First Aid qualification (desirable).
