Full-time Tennis Coach - Dorset Tennis Academy
To develop and be the lead coach of Dorset Tennis Academy’s programme in Dorchester and Wareham with the help of the Owner/Manager (O/M) of the business. The coach will run all existing sessions as well as work with the O/M to create new ones, specifically organising promotional visits to local schools and linking with LTA initiatives such as LTA Youth, Tennis Xpress and Cardio Tennis as well as others. In addition to helping expand the current programme, the coach will be able to offer individual lessons, run tournaments, sell tennis equipment and re-string rackets. There is huge potential for the coach to develop a thriving business.
Dorset Tennis Academy has been in existence for over 20 years. Our mission is to provide high quality, affordable and progressive tennis programmes across Dorset, with the aim of attracting more people to play tennis and giving the more ambitious players the opportunity to reach their full potential. The company runs programmes in Dorchester and Wareham, and is about to take on two new venues. The role is based at both St. Osmund’s Sports Centre in Dorchester and Purbeck Sports Centre in Wareham. St Osmund's has 3 outdoor macadam courts (2 floodlit) and a 4 badminton court sports hall, while Purbeck Sports Centre has 3 floodlit artificial grass courts and a 5 badminton court sports hall. We currently have just over 120 children and adults receiving coaching on a weekly basis across the 2 venues. Anyone can play in our coaching programme and they don’t have to be a member. We have great links with over 20 local schools in the Dorchester and Wareham areas, so there is huge potential to get more people playing tennis and for the coach to earn a good living.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a high-quality coach who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and well organised both on and off court. They should have strong communication skills, both verbal and written and a desire to give value for money and high quality coaching sessions. They should have excellent business skills including IT and good people skills.
