Our coaching programme is busy, and we have waiting lists now for 90% of our groups (adults and juniors). We are waiting for the right coach to join us before setting up new groups.

You’ll be busy with group coaching for all ages, but there is also huge demand for individual lessons if you would like.

After the group coaching programme is filled, the role is flexible, and could include coaching in schools and/or organising competitions and teams if you would like.

Head coach, Julia Searle, runs the coaching programme. You will be working directly for her coaching programme on a self-employed basis.

Steyning Tennis Club is a busy community club with well over 100 juniors and 150 adults. We only have three courts, but there is lots of activity during the week - a coaching programme with 100 juniors and 50 adults attending each week, as well as junior teams, adult teams, match practices, team challenges and social tennis.
Our philosophy of welcoming all players regardless of age and ability sits at the heart of all our decisions. Therefore we are looking for a coach who can coach a range of players from age 4 to 84, including beginners and intermediate level.

You do not have to have a huge amount of coaching experience. Passion for coaching, and ability to communicate effectively on and off the court with a variety of different players is far more important.

We’d love you to be able to plan and deliver engaging group coaching sessions. We’d like you to be able to encourage “playing the game” teaching tactical skills, decision making, movement and mental skills as well as technique. Most of all, we’d like you to love tennis, and have the ability to inspire others to do the same.

You’ll need to be a positive role model to all at the club. You’ll need to be committed to continuous development in your coaching skills, and will have the support of our head coach as a mentor.
