Lead Tennis Coach - TWC Teams
Job Purpose
The Lead Tennis Coach is responsible for delivering high-quality tennis coaching
programmes, ensuring an excellent participant experience, and supporting the
growth and development of tennis teams at TWC. The role involves planning and
delivering engaging team training sessions, maintaining programme standards,
and achieving team results expectations agreed at the beginning of the season.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality tennis coaching sessions in line with the TWC coaching
philosophy and programme objectives.
• Lead and supervise coaching activities, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and
enjoyable environment for all participants.
• Plan and structure sessions that cater to a range of abilities and player needs.
• Support the recruitment, development, and mentoring of teams players
• Monitor player progress and provide regular feedback to participants.
• Promote coaching programmes and support participation growth initiatives.
• Assist with the organisation and delivery of events, competitions (Club
Championship & Box leagues) camps and training blocs, club activities
(external/ internals events) or clubs partnerships.
• Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and venue policies are followed.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and programme administration as
required.
• Act as a positive ambassador for the venue, fostering strong relationships with
members, participants, parents, and the wider community.
• Work collaboratively with management team to achieve programme
objectives.
Team Programme.
• Lead, oversee and coach teams : NPL, NCL, Wilson Surrey County, Mid-
Week, Juniors …
• Deliver quality sessions aligned with the TWC Training plan and long-term
LTA athlete development principles.
• Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for all team player
whatever their level is.
• Support player progression for all team and ensure a clear and transparent
pathways to players.
• Communicate effectively with Tennis Director regarding player development
and programme opportunities.
• Identify talented players and support their development through suitable
pathways and competitions.
• Ensure safeguarding standards are consistently maintained across all junior
activities.
• Organise match calendar and support for the captains.
• Attend quarterly meeting organised by the Management team (TD/TA/HC).
• Identify scholarship players and be part of the recruitment process.
Lead Tennis Coach - Social Tennis
• Lead and develop a vibrant social tennis programme designed to maximise
enjoyment, participation, and community engagement.
• Deliver fun, inclusive, and welcoming sessions suitable for a range of playing
standards.
• Organise social tennis events, mixers, themed sessions, and recreational
competitions.
• Foster a positive club culture that encourages new players to join and existing
participants to remain engaged.
• Encourage social interaction and community building both on and off the court
via external trip events in uk or abroad.
• Support participant retention through excellent customer service and
programme innovation.
• Create opportunities for players to progress into coaching programmes, club
sessions, and competitions where appropriate.
• Work with venue management to develop
Lead Tennis Coach - Adult Programme
Lead and develop a comprehensive adult coaching programme around clinics
for beginner, improver, intermediate, and advanced players.
• Design structured coaching pathways that support long-term player
development and progression.
• Deliver engaging sessions focused on technical, tactical, physical, and matchplay
development.
• Create a welcoming environment via internals and external events that
encourages participation, retention, and progression.
• Support players in transitioning from coaching programmes into club play,
competitions, and team tennis.
• Monitor attendance and programme performance, identifying opportunities for
growth.
• Organise adult coaching events, workshops, and match-play opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with adult participants to enhance member
satisfaction and retention
The Wimbledon Club is set opposite the AELTC. We have 7 Clay Courts (3 covered in winter by a bubble) and 2 Poraflex Courts, 1 indoor Sports Hall and 6 Grass Courts in Summer.
Members enjoy a Bar and Restaurant overlooking the tennis courts and cricket field.
Essential Requirements
• LTA Level 4 Accredited + Coach (minimum) or equivalent recognised
qualification.
• Current DBS check and safeguarding certification.
• First Aid qualification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience leading tennis competitive coaching programmes and competitive
players.
• Ability to motivate players of varying ages and abilities.
• Excellent IT organisational and time-management skills.
• Flexible approach to working evenings and weekends.
These roles are offered on a PAYE contract with guaranteed minimum working hours
of between 15 and 20 hours per week.
Employees will receive holiday entitlement equivalent to 25 days per annum,
calculated pro-rata and paid according to hours worked.
You will also be entitled to statutory employment benefits, including Statutory Sick
Pay (SSP), subject to eligibility requirements.
