Contract type: Permanent, hourly paid
Remuneration: Dependent on experience, ranging from £26.96 (Level 3) - £34.20 (experienced Level 4) per hour
Working hours: Lessons can be arranged during the school day and in the evenings. Monday to Friday with exception of occasional high profile events held annually

Tennis Professional (L3 or L4) works as an employed member of staff on a casual (hourly paid) basis. As part of a team of five dedicated tennis staff, each coach has the opportunity to manage their own weekly number of lessons within the SMCTA programme, offering staff flexibility alongside the benefits
of being on the payroll. Alongside the wider SMCTA team, the Level 3 or 4 Tennis Professional will coach tennis activities at both Prep and Senior level. Our Professionals are positive, enthusiastic, willing to learn and to develop
and further their own coaching credentials, they also possess excellent communication skills and are willing to work as part of a fun, dynamic team. Other essential attributes include being well organised, reliable and presentable. The St Mary’s Calne Tennis Academy (SMCTA) is directed by Head Coach, Jonathan Hayes and offers extra-curricular opportunities beyond the classroom which we believe are a vital and integral part of life for students. They are woven into the timetable during the day and in the evenings.
Level 2 coaches who are booked on to their level 3 course will be considered for this role (an initial hourly rate relevant to level 2 would be applicable).
Key Responsibilities
Amongst other duties set out by the Director of Tennis, this specific role will be responsible for:
• administration tasks such as organising and running Box League matches
• assisting with St Margaret’s (Prep) groups
• delivering cover lessons when tennis coaches are absent
• coaching team practices in the summer term
• attending the PGSM (parents’ guild) family tournament (1 x Sunday per year, usually in the
Spring)
• attending matches and tournaments when required
• delivering group lessons and activities such as Cardio Tennis

Qualifications, skills and experience:
• LTA level 3 or level 4 qualified (level 2 considered if booked on to level 3 course)
• strong communication skills adaptable for 1:1 lessons and groups
• ability to plan lessons for diverse ages and abilities
• organisational and time management skills
• competency in the use of ICT for administration purposes
• positive, enthusiastic and willing to learn and to develop
• committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people.
Desirable:
• an understanding of the expectations, ethos and aims of a full boarding school
