Level 1 Assistant Coach
The Level 1 Tennis Coaching Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality, inclusive tennis coaching programmes across The Royal Parks tennis venues. Working under the supervision
of qualified lead coaches, you will assist in sessions for a wide range of players, including juniors, adults, beginners, and community groups.
This role is ideal for individuals starting out in their coaching career who are passionate about tennis, enjoy working with people, and are committed to creating a welcoming and engaging environment in one of London’s most iconic outdoor settings.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaching Support
· Assist Lead Coaches in delivering structured and engaging tennis sessions.
· Support group organisation, including setting up drills and managing equipment.
· Help maintain a safe, fun, and inclusive coaching environment.
· Provide basic technical guidance under supervision.
Programme Delivery
· Assist in junior and adult group programmes, including:
o Beginner and improver sessions
o Holiday camps
o School and community outreach activities
· Encourage participation and retain players through positive engagement.
Customer Experience
· Act as a friendly and professional point of contact for players, parents, and visitors.
· Help create a welcoming atmosphere aligned with The Royal Parks’ values.
· Assist with session check-ins and general enquiries where required.
Venue & Equipment Support
· Support court setup and pack-down before and after sessions.
· Ensure equipment is used safely and stored correctly.
· Maintain cleanliness and organisation of coaching areas.
Health & Safety
· Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and welfare procedures at all times.
· Assist with risk assessments and emergency procedures.
· Promote safe play and adherence to venue rules.
The Royal Parks is a charity that manages over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.
