Lead Tennis Coach - Wokingham
This is a flagship opportunity to lead tennis at a brand-new National Tennis launch in Wokingham. We are opening a fully refurbished, floodlit site in a heavily populated catchment, and we are looking for an ambitious coach who is hungry to build a base from scratch and lead on tennis at Wokingham.
The role starts with 20 hours per week of guaranteed, supported core delivery to get the programme off the ground. Because this is a brand-new launch on a refurbished, floodlit site, there is significant headroom to grow participation — and a real opportunity to build this into a full-time role as you grow the programme and develop your own private lesson base.
On top of your core delivery, you will have the freedom to build a strong private lesson base (typically £35+ per hour), with further income available through our other nearby sites, school outreach and holiday camps. As National Tennis operates multiple venues within travelling distance, there is genuine scope for your hours and earnings to grow well beyond the core role.
On-court delivery spans LTA Youth through to Adult group sessions on a weekly basis, made up of new sessions you will establish at the site as the programme grows.
Key Responsibilities:
• On-court delivery: lead and deliver tennis coaching across LTA Youth Start, Tennis
Express, Adult sessions and Cardio Tennis.
• Programme leadership: build and lead the Wokingham programme from launch,
growing participation across juniors and adults.
• Build your own private lesson base at the venue and develop school and club links to
feed the coaching programme.
• Lead, recruit and mentor assistant coaches as the programme expands.
Hours & Compensation:
• 20 hours per week of guaranteed, supported core delivery, with a clear path to fulltime as you build the programme.
• Group delivery typically £18–£28 per hour, dependent on qualifications and
experience.
• Build your own private lesson base, typically £35+ per hour, with 100% of selfemployed individual coaching income retained.
• Further income available through our other nearby sites, school outreach and camps.
• Both employed and self-employed arrangements are available — we will work with
you to find the right structure.
Benefits
• Retain 100% of income from self-employed individual coaching.
• 5 weeks paid holiday (for employed coaches).
• A Personal Development Plan with NTA management, plus funded CPD courses.
• Workplace perks, including cinema and supermarket discounts.
• All necessary equipment provided.
• Racket Ambassadorship with Tecnifibre.
• Adidas sponsorship, including paid clothing and 50% off all Adidas products.
Wokingham is a brand-new National Tennis launch on a fully refurbished, floodlit site in one
of Berkshire's most heavily populated areas. With excellent facilities and strong local
demand, it is a programme with enormous growth potential from the very start — and the
chance for the right coach to make it their own.
National Tennis is a Community Interest Company and one of the UK's largest tennis
coaching organisations, with over 100 employed coaches delivering across the country. We
offer high-quality, affordable tennis across a portfolio of parks, clubs and indoor centres.
We pride ourselves on offering coaches a fantastic base to build a career. That means
guaranteed and supported hours, all your equipment provided, a structured Personal
Development Plan and funded CPD, and genuine progression. Many of our senior coaches
and managers started out on court with us — there are clear pathways into lead coach, head
coach and operational and management roles as you grow.
For an ambitious coach this is a real step up: the security and support of a national
organisation, combined with the freedom to build your own private lesson base and grow
your income. If you are hungry to develop, we will back you.
