Lead Development Coach
Role:
We are looking to employ a driven and enthusiastic coach that can coach players of all ages and abilities. Key duties
include:
• Managing, delivering and driving sessions within our club junior, adult, squad & holiday camp programmes.
• Promoting and encouraging sign-up to our programmes.
• Encourage club/venue membership and other additional playing opportunities.
• Being available to deliver Private (one-to-one) sessions/coaching
• Developing our grass roots park programmes.
• Developing and implementing a regular competition programme.
• Being an effective member of the VTA Coaching Team by attending meetings and collaborating with other members of the team.
Hours:
• Guaranteed 16 hours per week of group lessons during term time, increasing to 19-25 hours per week with the development of new park sessions and competition programmes.
• Minimum of 18 hours per week during holiday camps
• A good opportunity to increase hours further with Private Session bookings.
• Opportunity to increase hours by restringing racquets.
Vale Tennis Academy provides quality tennis programmes in and around The Vale of Glamorgan (near Cardiff). Our vision is to develop tennis within the community by making tennis more accessible and affordable with great facilities for everyone to use. We have coaching programmes in Penarth, Barry, Llantwit Major, Wenvoe and Peterston Super Ely. We operate with a small, friendly and close team of coaches. Our Head Coach and Director is Rob Cunningham, Level 5 Master Club Coach, LTA Coach Development, Lead Tutor for Tennis Wales and Qualified Coach Mentor.
Qualification, Skills & Experience:
• LTA Level 2 or Level 3 (preferred) Coach Qualification or equivalent. We will consider coaches who are already on the level 2 pathway.
• LTA Accreditation (essential). This includes; valid DBS, Safeguarding and First Aid Certificates.
• Drivers Licence & own transport (essential)
• A competent playing ability and knowledge of the game
• Knowledge of LTA Programmes and delivery
• Experience teaching/coaching tennis to a variety of player abilities and ages.
• Good organisation and communication skills
• Experience running basic competitions
• Basic computer literacy
