Head Tennis Coach
The Head Coach will be working closely with the Tennis Manager responsible for leading, developing and delivering a high quality tennis coaching programme for junior and adult members with our existing team of experienced coaches. They will be a positive role model who creates a fun, safe and engaging coaching environment . We are looking for a coach who is self-motivated, reliable, punctual and flexible to the needs of our club and willing to partner with the Committee to deliver the Club's vision. Effective communication and good organisational skills are essential, as well as an ability to relate to and manage players of all ages and abilities.
Cambridge Lawn Tennis Club (CLTC) is located in the heart of the beautiful city of Cambridge. It is a welcoming and friendly community-based not-for-profit, inclusive club, committed to making tennis available to all ages, abilities and social groups in and around the Cambridge area. CLTC is the largest outdoor club in Cambridgeshire with 16 courts, 11 of which are floodlit. There are over 900 members, and 500 players a week participating in our very successful coaching programme with junior pathways to county training, and adults competing regularly in the internal singles league as well as numerous league teams that compete all year round from ages 8 to 60+. Appropriate coaching qualification(s): e.g. LTA Senior or Master Coach, Accredited + (Level 4 or 5)
Proven experience as a coach ( ideally as a head coach) of a programme in a club setting
Strong knowledge of tennis technique, tactics, training methods, competition formats and player development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage with players, parents, staff and members
Organisational ability to plan and schedule sessions, managing staff and resources
Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and diversity, fairplay and fostering a positive sporting culture
Personal Attributes
To always be prepared to work collaboratively and be good at sharing best practice ideas with others
Be comfortable challenging groups or individuals to ensure high levels of work
Experienced in talent development pathways (e.g. developing junior players to competition levels)
Experienced in running holiday camps, adult programmes or outreach into schools/community
Administrative skills to include budgeting, reporting, using the LTA Clubspark software
Ability to contribute to marketing, social media and membership growth initiatives
Experience with facility management
Works openly and honestly in the best interest of the team
Hard working and driven to succeed and achieve our mission
IT literate with excellent written, verbal communication skills
Performance targets may include participation growth, retention rates, competition results or programme KPI’s
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
On-court outdoor coaching year round
Must work one day during the weekend
The ability to travel to matches/competitions may be required
High playing standard preferable for participating in team tennis
