Head Coach


Dunfermline Tennis Club is looking for an experienced, committed and enthusiastic Head Coach to deliver an ambitious and progressive tennis development programme for all age groups.
The successful applicant will be fully committed to the club and passionate about introducing and developing the game of tennis to players of all ages and abilities. They will be able to work alongside our members and committee to create a positive and collaborative ethos at the club.
Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
• Lead the design and delivery of the coaching programme for tots, minis, juniors and adults
• Develop and lead a coaching workforce of coaches, assistants and young leaders
• Promote the coaching programme and carry out necessary administration on ClubSpark (or other chosen platform)
• Develop our schools and community programme, promoting partnerships with stakeholders such as Active Schools, Fife Sports Development, Disability Sport Fife and Sports Council
• Contribute, as a key member of our Tennis Group, to the design, development and delivery of our wider tennis programme, comprising coaching, competitions, social tennis and events
• Take part in wider club activities and contribute to additional events as required, e.g. Open Days, fun tournaments, etc.
Details of the Head Coach service agreement will be negotiated with the preferred candidate as part of the recruitment process.
Lying just north of Edinburgh in the county of Fife, Dunfermline is proud to have been awarded city status. Dunfermline Tennis Club boasts a rich heritage and is the oldest club in Scotland still to exist on its original site.
We now have five excellent floodlit Tiger Turf Advantage Pro courts and a modern, refurbished clubhouse.
We have a current membership of around 250 members, with a capacity for around 450. Our ethos is to be friendly and welcoming and to encourage everyone to play tennis, whatever their age or ability.
This Head Coach role is vital to the success of the club’s ambitious and exciting three-year plan for growth.
Essential criteria:
• Minimum LTA Level 3 Accredited+ coach
• Professional, motivated, reliable and organised
• Proven track record of delivering successful coaching programmes for junior and adult players of all ages and abilities, in group and individual sessions
• Be able to lead and work as part of a team
• Have excellent communication skills
• Be proficient in the use of key systems, including ClubSpark, Competition Management System and TTP
Desirable criteria:
• Keen to work in partnership with neighbouring clubs and coaches
• Keen to expand the inclusive nature of our club, e.g. tennis for disability groups, under-represented groups
• Engage in continuous professional self-development
• Actively drive a culture of continuous improvement, embracing and encouraging innovation and fresh thinking
• Ability to network effectively with other professionals and players
• Willing to support and advise team captains in county and other events
• Experienced in the promotion and marketing of tennis clubs and programmes in the local community and beyond, via local press and schools, and through social media platforms
