HEAD COACH
The key role of the Head Coach will be to plan and deliver a coaching programme for both juniors and adults as well as providing 1 to 1 coaching. The Head Coach is also responsible for resourcing the programme and building a team of coaches as required. The role is offered on a self-employed basis with the coach free to set the levels charged for sessions. There is also an opportunity for the incoming Head Coach to take on some additional coaching work currently being delivered by the Head Coach at private courts separate to the club and to continue regular summer term coaching at Colyton Grammar School also as delivered by the current coach
We are a long-standing, friendly and thriving club based in the East Devon seaside town of Seaton. We have 6 floodlit courts – 4 astro and 2 tarmac. At all times at least 1 court is available for coaching use. Current membership is around 200. A coaching programme is currently run for juniors in multiple age groups, including holiday camps. Regular adult group sessions are also held for beginners and intermediate/advanced players. In addition, occasional sessions are arranged to coach players in the many club teams playing in local leagues. 1 to 1 coaching is also provided to members and non members at various standards with a good number of adult members being amenable to regular sessions. The committee is fully supportive of the Head Coach in helping to structure and schedule the coaching programme such that it dovetails with other priorities. Coaching tasters are offered as an incentive to new joiners and also the wider community with the club subsidizing coaching costs. We have good links with a number of local schools and have held introductory sessions with a number of them – an area seen as a source of further potential growth.
We are a friendly and supportive club, best matched with a coach who contributes positively to a vibrant atmosphere by being prepared to be a very frequent presence around the place. You’ll need good communication skills and the ability to develop positive working relationships with a wide variety of people, including the club chair with whom you will work closely. Creativity and also organizational skills are other attributes which we are looking for – a coach who is both able to come up with new ideas and then manage and deliver on them.

The role is available from January 2026. However we would be particularly open to coaches who would be able to spend time at Seaton during November and December to work with the current Head Coach to ensure that there is a seamless transfer on his departure.
As above, we have indicated that we are ideally looking for an L3 however we are also quite prepared to consider applications from experienced Level 2 coaches.
