This role is about far more than teaching forehands — it is about shaping young people, creating a tennis culture, and developing a clear pathway from first lesson to competitive player.

Your Mission
To design and deliver a whole-school beginner pathway that:
Builds confidence and enjoyment from the first session
Develops technically sound, match-aware players
Inspires pupils to represent Farlington with pride
Creates a lifelong love of tennis and sport

Create age-appropriate lesson plans with clear progression
Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-standard training environment

Be a visible ambassador for Farlington’s sporting ethos
The Ideal Coach
You are:
Passionate, energetic, and inspirational
Confident working with large age ranges
Structured, professional, and reliable
Focused on player development, not just drills
Able to motivate beginners and make tennis exciting
What Makes This Role Different
You are building a programme, not just delivering sessions
You will shape a pathway from Year 1 to Sixth Form
You will be trusted to bring ideas, creativity, and leadership
You will help define the tennis culture at Farlington

Farlington School is a well-established co-educational independent day and boarding school located in Horsham, West Sussex, set in 33 acres of picturesque parkland on the borders of Sussex and Surrey. Founded in 1896, Farlington has a long tradition of delivering a broad, holistic education for pupils from early years through to Sixth Form (ages 4–18) — with nursery provision extending even earlier.
The school prides itself on a warm, tight-knit community where every pupil is known, valued, and encouraged to flourish academically, socially, and personally. Farlington’s core values — Individuality, Opportunity, and Community — guide its culture, encouraging students to be confident, curious, and ambitious in all they do. Pastoral care and wellbeing are central, with a strong emphasis on mutual respect, teamwork, and resilience.
In recent years Farlington has transitioned from a traditional girls’ school to a fully co-educational institution, reflecting its commitment to inclusion and preparing pupils for the diverse world beyond school.
