Club Coach - GDTennis Caversham Lawn Tennis Club (guaranteed group and private hours)
A full-time coaching position has opened at Caversham Lawn Tennis Club, joining an established and well-run coaching team. The role starts with 15 hours of group coaching per week, with clear scope to increase as demand grows. Private coaching demand is already high, with an active waiting list, giving the incoming coach strong earning potential from day one.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver consistent, high-quality group coaching across juniors, adults, and team sessions
• Provide individual and shared private lessons to meet strong club demand
• Play a full and committed role in both the adult and junior coaching programmes
• Take an active part in club life: coaching courses, holiday camps, internal competitions, and events
• Support wider club and community initiatives, including schools outreach
• Mentor assistant coaches and Tennis Leaders as required
Caversham LTC is a long-established, 9-court club in Caversham Heights, just north of Reading. Founded in the early 1900s, the club has grown significantly and was awarded Berkshire Club of the Year 2024.
GDTennis has partnered with the club for over 25 years, delivering a strong, structured coaching programme that serves players of all ages and standards. Today the club has 500+ members, from 4 years old through to 80+, ranging from beginners to top county competitors.

• 4 tournament-grade acrylic courts
• 2 Clayrite artificial clay courts
• 3 tarmac all-weather courts
• 2 indoor acrylic courts (October–March) under a heated, high-spec airhall with LED lighting
• Modern clubhouse with bar, lounge seating, TV, table tennis, kitchen, and changing/shower facilities
The combination of indoor winter courts, a large membership base, and a long-standing coaching partnership ensures year-round coaching opportunities and excellent demand for both group and private lessons.

• LTA Level 3 (minimum), or Level 2 actively enrolled on a Level 3 course
• LTA Accredited Coach: valid DBS, Safeguarding, and First Aid
• Strong track record delivering junior and adult group coaching
• Confident delivering 1-to-1 and shared private lessons
• Solid technical and tactical knowledge across all playing standards
• Able to communicate clearly and professionally with players, parents, and club members
• Reliable, well-organised, and able to manage a busy coaching diary
• Engaging coaching style with the ability to connect with both adults and juniors
• Team player who contributes positively to the wider coaching programme
• Shows initiative and brings constructive ideas to the programme and club
Desirable
• Experience in club development or schools outreach
• Experience mentoring junior assistants or Tennis Leaders
• Experience working within a medium or large coaching programme
