Be Well is Wigan Council’s growing health and wellbeing movement, supporting individuals and families to lead healthier, happier lives. We offer a wide range of activities across our seven local leisure centres, at community venues, and in parks and green spaces. We also provide advice and support with a variety of issues, and work in schools and at the heart of our neighbourhoods to improve the health and wellbeing of people of all ages.
The position is largely based at Robin Park Leisure Centre, a premium Leisure Centre opposite the Brick Community Stadium . The centre includes 4 indoor and 4 floodlit outdoor courts with a Padel partnership in development alongside an 8 badminton court sports hall and extensive fitness facilities . The centre offers coaching, competition, team tennis, schools, community and social tennis.
The role involves designing and delivering racquet sports programmes, including coaching pathways, group sessions, competitions, and outreach activities. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring coaching staff, managing schedules and resources, and fostering community engagement through partnerships and marketing initiatives. Operational duties cover monitoring performance, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health standards. Essential requirements include LTA Level 4 (or equivalent), Accreditation+, coaching experience, leadership skills, and valid certifications. Desirable qualifications include Level 5, experience in public leisure settings, and IT literacy. Full-time hours include evenings and weekends with flexibility during events and holidays.
