Principal Function:
To support and join the team of Seacourt Tennis Club’s Sports Staff consisting of our Senior Real Tennis Professional, Andrew Lyons, and our Head Coach for Lawn Tennis, Padel and Pickleball, James Green by:
•being part of the staff team at the front and centre of Seacourt which extends a warm welcome and customer service to all members and visitors
•assisting in driving forward the development of Seacourt Tennis Club’s juniors in all sports
•helping to provide an exciting professional experience for members and visitors in all racquet sports on offer through delivery of quality coaching in several racquet sports
•proactively encouraging increased participation and court usage by ensuring enjoyment of playing and competing at Seacourt
Accountable to: the Club Manager and the Board of Directors
Responsibilities and Tasks:
1.Club Duties
Assisting with:
•player development initiatives by facilitating and providing coaching lessons for individual and groups subject to qualifications
•the organisation and management of all Club racquet sport games/events. E.g matches and tournaments, initiating games for members, recording results etc
•sports communications to members, including weekly updates, Club advertising, emails
•daily cleaning of all courts and keeping all sport related areas tidy.
•regular checking all sports equipment to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
•taking court bookings using RTO and ClubSpark or other new system when introduced
•taking court payments promptly as agreed
•maintaining a tidy and safe working environment in the sports work shop
•regularly checking air conditioning unit and gym machines are clean and in working order as required
2. Promoting participation and membership
Assisting with:
•proactively seeking and selling bookings across all courts
•encouraging the growth of membership numbers across all ages, in particular the number of junior members and younger families
•promoting the welcoming atmosphere at the Club as an inviting place for current and prospective new members; offering a friendly, professional approach
•greeting members, answering their questions and sharing interesting facts about Seacourt and that the Club is set up for their enjoyment
3. General.
To assist with Club duties and customer services which include but not limited to:
•taking phone calls and checking emails
•ensuring any messages are passed on the relevant personnel in an efficient manner in line with procedures
•taking bookings for other services by phone or in person when necessary. E.g: booking a table in the restaurant
•directing customers to courts, and providing required furniture for external hire arrangements
•attending staff meetings as necessary
•caring for the Club facilities i.e: checking lights, heaters and taps are turned off when not in use
•helping to serve non alcoholic beverages when necessary
Seacourt is a world-renowned sports and social club located on the South Coast of England on Hayling Island, loved for its friendly ambience where families, members and non - members are warmly welcomed.
Seacourt offers many forms of racket sports, including;
•Real Tennis (aka Royal Tennis or Court Tennis)
•Lawn Tennis, on 2 top of the range Tiger Turf floodlit courts
•Pickleball, Badminton and Short Tennis in our sprung floored sports hall;
•Rackets
•Padel (on the Rackets Court)
•Squash, 2 courts one of which is a newly refurbished glass backed exhibition court.
•Racketball and Table Tennis (on Squash Courts), Sticke tennis on the Real Tennis Court
As well as the above racquet sports, Seacourt also offers the following sporting and fitness facilities and services. It has;
•A newly refurbished Gym, with the latest equipment for Cardio and Fitness training.
•A Dance studio used for Pilates, Yoga, and smallerevents
•Petanque pitch and lawned garden
•Fencing for adults and juniors.
•External providers hire space at the Club to teach a wide variety of fitness classes and a local golf pro offers lessons using an on-site simulator.
•A local cricket team, The Racqueteers, base themselves at the Club
•Bar and restaurant with catering services which offer hospitality and events sometimes using our decorated sports hall
The Ideal Candidate will be an enthusiastic, proactive and energetic team player with a passion for racket sports and :
•demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills – written and verbal
•be competent in IT skills eg Microsoft word, excel and creating Club tournament draws
•be willing to engage in Professional Development and recognised coaching qualifications in e g LTA Lawn Tennis, Squash, padel, pickleball, badminton
•be self motivated to drive court sales and achieve targets where necessary
•be able to maintain high standards when under pressure
•to be flexible with shifts in accordance with the requirements of the business, which includes, daytimes, evenings and weekends in line with day to day operations and special events
•be up to date with emergency first aid
•MUST be willing to be DBS certificated
