Instructor / Level 2+ Tennis Coach
We are looking for an instructor / coach who would like valuable experience and enjoy working at Leeds Parks Tennis Courts, interacting with players of a wide variety of backgrounds with 15 free-to-book sites across the city.
Some of the coaching lessons we deliver are free to those who would like to access them, with equipment provided free of charge (you, as the coach, will still be paid as usual for this delivery). This is made possible by work with charities that Community Tennis Coordinator Danny does to facilitate this. Therefore, this is a unique opportunity to reach out and work with those who might not ordinarily have access to playing tennis.
On the other hand, some of our programmes are based in more well-renowned parks, such as Roundhay Park, which is a 16 court site with over 8000 people playing there each year. Running open days, weekly lessons, summer camps and working in schools to engage new players in tennis are the main roles that you will be playing.
Coaches can choose whether they would like to focus on coaching in more economically-deprived areas of Leeds, work in areas that live and breathe tennis, or a mix of both. The role we are offering is therefore very diverse - no two days are the same!
We also offer a coaching bursary scheme, whereby we pay for your next coaching qualification in exchange for hours delivered on the programme. For example, if you want to do your Level 3 coaching course, we can fund £750.00 to cover the cost of the course, whilst you earn the cost back at a rate of £15.00 per hour. Since the start of 2022, 3 coaches have achieved their next qualification with the support of Community Tennis Coordinator Danny.
The hours that we can offer can be negotiated and are flexible based upon other commitments. For example, you could have 3 hours per week or up to 10 hours per work, dependent upon any other roles you may have.
Leeds City Council and the Lawn Tennis Association are working in partnership with the aim to make tennis easily accessible with low charges, professional coaching and engaging activities for the local community.
Our focus, as a local authority, is to promote tennis throughout the year for all age groups, both adults and children, through social play, internal competition and to offer professional coaching to any players who want to improve their standard of play.
- Experience as an Instructor / Coach doesn't matter (this is ideal for someone who has just finished their Instructor course and wants to take the next step in their coaching career)
- Willing to learn and try new things
- 18 years and above
- Desire to offer the best possible service to a wide variety of people
- Ability to communicate with assistant coaches and Community Tennis Activator Danny effectively
