Performance coaching principles
This is the framework of principles that help to support coaches to develop world class players along the Player Pathway.
We’ve worked closely with leading experts in performance to outline six core principles that will drive and improve performance coaching to support the most promising players on the player pathway. These principles will provide a structure for coaches to learn and develop and be the foundation of their day-to-day work, on and off the court.
- Person - understand and support the person first.
- Skills - produce smart players with efficient strokes in attacking, rallying and defensive situations.
- Head - develop focused, resilient competitors that can handle any situation.
- Heart - encourage the enjoyment of training and competition whilst developing relentless competitiors.
- Athlete - create great movers that are agile, powerful and robust.
- Journey - optimise development and performance through planning with a long term vision.
Watch the video below to find out more about the Performance Coaching Principles and how the principles were developed.
Each of the six principles are broken down into their core elements below, along with a video to showcase each one.
This framework of principles acts as a support tool to provide relevant, specific, world-leading content to upskill coaches in performance coaching.
