Explore the fundamentals of injury prevention and pre-habilitation to help tennis and padel players become more robust through athletic development. Developed by the LTA, in collaboration with Dr. Mark Kovacs and Suzanne Williams, this course provides with multiple tips and drills that can be easily introduced into your coaching sessions, are relevant to all ages and abilities of player, and use equipment that fits in a tennis bag.
By the end of this course, you will:
- Understand more about injury prevention, pre-habilitation and why it is important for a coach to have knowledge in this area and help players become more robust
- Have a better awareness of common injuries in tennis and padel players, especially at the 14 and younger
- Be able to better support young athletes through to senior competitors to cope with the specific physical demands of tennis and padel
- Take away a series of practical exercises for the ankles, hips, core, shoulders and elbows using equipment that fits into a tennis or padel bag
- Get practical advice on how best to implement injury prevention - either as part of a training block or during a competition schedule
- Understand further support on injury prevention available
Injury Prevention: Developing Physically Robust Players is an ideal course for tennis and padel coaches who have an interest in supporting players’ athletic development. The multiple video resources and exercises available in this module will add more variety to your coaching sessions while enhancing your knowledge in the strength and conditioning (S&C) space.
Dr. Mark Kovacs is globally recognised performance physiologist, PhD in Exercise Physiology, who has worked with top athletes across the NBA, NFL, MLB and ATP/WTA players, such as, John Isner, Sloane Stephens, Madison Keys, Frances Tiafoe, and Jennifer Brady. Similarly. Suzzanne Williams is a highly respected S&C coach, LTA Level 5 Performance, UKSCA Accredited S&C coach, BSc (Hons) in Sport Science, and has worked with players of all ages, including serving as Emma Raducanu’s S&C coach from age 7 to 11.
