Breakout rooms
Breakout 1:
‘SHE CALLS IT OUT’ - exploring the truth about coaching as a female in a male dominated profession & what can be done to create change
In this breakout session, the participants will pool their experiences and the challenges that they have faced in the coaching world specifically related to not only the 23% / 77% split between female & male coaches, but also in situations where most of the senior decision makers are male and the varied needs of women with different ambitions in the sport may be overshadowed. What needs to change to attract & retain more women in coaching at all levels, and how do we achieve this.
Breakout 2:
‘THE DAY SESSION’ – considering alternative coaching roles and income sources for coaches with primary care responsibilities or other reasons avoiding on court work or a traditional coach’s working hours
In this breakout session, the participants will explore together how they balance other responsibilities whilst maintaining a successful career as a tennis coach. They will discuss daytime coaching opportunities at all levels such as Open Court projects, in school sessions, walking tennis; & share ideas for short or long term ways in which to supplement their income with off court work in the industry, such as administration of programmes, social media projects, or other business ideas.
Breakout 3:
‘SELF SERVICE’ – looking at how can you invest in yourself & the benefits & rewards for your career & job satisfaction of doing so
In this breakout session, the participants will share what self-development work they have invested in & what outcomes these have led to for them as female coaches. Whether it be upgrading their LTA Assistant (Level 2) to an LTA Coach (Level 3) coaching qualification, recommending CPD courses, working with a Mentor, or simply following content providers on Instagram, those choosing this breakout will be inspired by each other to take the next steps to upskill & supercharge their careers & communicate their prowess to their audiences.
Breakout 4:
‘BODY LINE’ – reflecting on the issues that only females face by doing a physical job; sharing how to manage these challenges on a practical level & take care of our bodies in the longer term
In this breakout session, the participants will have the opportunity to discuss the challenges faced specifically by female coaches & share their advice for each other on topics such as sports bras, menstruation, working through pregnancy, maternity leave, post-natal recovery/care, sharing primary care responsibilities, perimenopause/menopause symptoms, pelvic health/stress incontinence, & body image/clothing pressures.
Breakout 5:
‘ROUGH OR SMOOTH’ – discussions supporting women who are just making the decision to start working as a coach, who would like help to plan their journey from women who are already established coaches
In this breakout session, the participants of all ages who are new to coaching or deciding whether to make it their main career, will share their ambitions & expectations with those coaches who are prepared to share their own coaching pathway experience & advice. Mentoring from the established coaches… but perhaps also some reverse mentoring from those bringing fresh ideas to the sport, lived experiences from other careers, or perhaps their experience as players who have been through a different player pathway.
You will be awarded 1 CPD credit for attending this event.
