Gold medal win for GB Women’s 75s at ITF World Super Seniors Team Championships

The GB Women’s 75s team beat USA in the Final to win the Gold medal at the ITF World Super Seniors Team Championships in Croatia.

133 teams from 29 nations took part in the clay court event in Ulmag, Croatia from 16-22 September. The ITF Super Seniors World Team Championships consists of 9 Team Cups and is the highest ranked team event on the ITF Seniors Circuit for male and female players in the age categories of 65-85* (*Mens 85).

The British Women’s 75s team of Jacqueline Boothman, Frances MacLennan, Felicity Thomas & Jennifer Waggott defeated teams from Finland, France, Germany and South Africa on their way to the Final of the Queens Cup.

The British Women’s 80’s team of Marcia Ackers, Alma Acourt, Sally Bealey & June Pearce won a Silver medal in the Doris Hart Cup. They beat Germany in the Semi Final before losing to a strong USA team in the Final.

There were further GB medal successes in the Women’s 65s and Men’s 85s events where both teams finished in a Bronze medal position.
