What is the United Cup?

Returning for a third year, the United Cup is an international mixed-team event taking place in Perth and Sydney, Australia, to kick-start the season.

Teams qualify for the United Cup based on the combined ranking of their top men's and women's singles player.

United Cup format

The United Cup is made up of 18 national teams, divided into six groups of three.

Each national team can nominate six players in their team – three men and three women.

Teams will compete against the other two nations in their group in a round-robin format. Group winners in each city will progress to the quarter-finals with one quarter-final spot in each city awarded to the best runner-up. The winners will progress to the semi-finals followed by the final on Sunday 11 January.

The ties are played as best of three matches – a men’s singles, women’s singles and a mixed doubles rubber.
