Why should I volunteer?
Volunteering gives you the opportunity to experience the excitement of a live mass sporting event. You can use your existing skills or learn some new ones in our volunteering roles. You will also gain valuable event experience whilst being part of a team of amazing people.
Who can apply?
You can apply as long as you are aged 18 or over, have a positive attitude, are motivated and are available for the relevant event dates. Please also note that our volunteering roles do involve standing for long periods of time.
Can I apply if I am not based in the UK?
Under current UK Visa & Immigration rules, volunteering is only permitted if it is for a registered charity. As our events do not fall within this remit, UK visitors are unable to apply to volunteer at our events, unless they have the Right To Work in the UK (although volunteering creates no contract between the LTA and the volunteer).
Do I need to have any experience?
No, anyone can volunteer, and no event experience is required. You will be able to detail the skills you have that makes you perfect for this role in the role description.
How much availability do I need to offer?
For most of our tournaments we require you to offer 5 days of availability and if successful we expect volunteers to undertake 4 shifts. For the HSBC Championships, this increases to offering 7 days of availability and if successful, we expect volunteers to undertake 6 shifts. Each shift is based on being at the venue for the full day.
How are volunteers chosen?
We aim for our on-site volunteer teams will be made up of a blended mix of people who have previously volunteered with us and those who are brand new. We will review all volunteer applications and ensure our tournament teams consist of volunteers with positive attitudes, those who operate well with others and those who offer a warm and friendly atmosphere to our spectators and the wider event teams on site.
For those who have not volunteered with us before or who have not volunteered with us over the past 2 years we aim to offer online selection interviews, hosted by one of the Volunteer Management Team. Selection to volunteer for all applicants is at the discretion of the Volunteer Management Team.
Will my expenses be covered?
Unfortunately, we are unable to cover travel, accommodation, or other expenses associated with the volunteer programme. All Volunteers will receive a uniform, and catering will be provided on venue during shifts.
Will food be provided?
Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
Will I receive a uniform?
Yes, you will receive a branded polo shirt, hat and jacket that you can keep!
Will I receive training?
Yes, volunteers will receive online training ahead of the start of the tournament as well as an onsite induction and tour before your first shift.
Who is my point of contact?
Each of our events has a Volunteer Manager who oversees everything from planning to delivery of the volunteer programme at the event. For our larger events there will also be a Volunteer Coordinator on site to assist with volunteer management. When you are on shift you will be allocated a specific person to report into. If you have any questions about the application process please email eventvolunteers@lta.org.uk and one of the team will respond to you.
How can I apply?
Applications are open between the 8th January 2026 and the 8th February 2026 and can be made via the link that will appear above during this period.
