Job Description

The Tennis Development Coordinator (TC) will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of the Club and community tennis programme. The TC will manage the marketing and promotion of tennis with the aim of increasing club membership and the number of players on the coaching programme .

Demonstrating passion and vision the TC, in conjunction with the Club and the Coaching team, will be required to design, develop and deliver a comprehensive tennis activity and outreach programme to drive tennis participation across all ages and abilities.


  1. To plan, organize and manage, with the help of others, a comprehensive tennis programme including the appointment of coaches to deliver the work
  2. To develop and deliver an annual tennis plan which ensures that a balanced programme of activity is delivered on a year round basis and includes individual, group coaching, holiday courses, pay and play opportunities, open days, and squad coaching
  3. To develop a community outreach programme and engage with local schools and local groups
  4. To ensure a coordinated competitive programme exists that encompasses internal and external events as well as formal and recreational competitions
  5. To work closely with the club committee to actively promote and market club membership and coaching
  6. To ensure the appointment and development of a highly skilled team of coaches, demonstrating leadership and management skills, to enable the coaches to deliver high quality individual and group tennis sessions
  7. To have the ability to use social media as a means to promote tennis activities – Facebook, twitter, instagram and snapchat 
  8. To manage coaching team budget and keep accurate records
  9. To be one of the first points of contact for club and liaise with appropriate members and/or coaches
  10. Liaise with LTA about forthcoming initiatives and incorporate into a club annual calendar of events.
  11. Work closely with main committee and junior committee to develop the club through the coaching programme and tennis development
  12. T C will report to coaching committee who will have responsibility for ensuring there are sufficient and adequate help from Club volunteers and coaches to deliver the purpose.

Person Specification

  1.  A self-starter with the ability to use own initiative and achieve agreed work deadlines
  2. Ability to develop, plan, promote and deliver a wide range of tennis programmes to meet local needs
  3. Experience of managing or organising staff.
  4.  Ability to maintain accurate records on all aspects of service and produce reports as required
  5. Presence, drive, and enthusiasm and with good organizational and communication skills.
  6. Good IT knowledge and experience of  databases, websites and social media / e-marketing
  7. An inner drive to work collaboratively within a team and engage with external partners
  8. Understanding of how to use marketing and PR to promote the club and programmes

Qualifications & Knowledge

Strong administration and computer skills

A coaching qualification would be beneficial

A satisfactory DBS via the LTA must be obtained if appointed

Overview of Venue

Marlborough Tennis is completing a fantastic new facility on land leased from Marlborough Golf Club.  There are 6 new courts, 4 with lighting in a beautiful countryside site.  The club has an active coaching programme for juniors and a rusty rackets and Tennis Xpress for adults currently using Marlborough College courts.  We look forward to offering a completely overhauled programme, introducing many new opportunities including social, Cardio tennis, Miss Hits, Disabled / wheelchair and performance coaching.  We have a current membership of 150 and look forward to attracting and developing this over the next few years.  Our focus will be to offer tennis to the community, taking it out to schools and businesses – all-inclusive for all ages and abilities.
