Many of the world's top players choose to just focus on their singles game and improving their ranking, but for several others, playing doubles not only gives them an additional element to their career, it also helped them develop their game

Last year, WTA singles world No.31 Elise Mertens also became the best doubles player in the world - a crown she still holds now.

She's a 15-time WTA doubles champion - most recently in Dubai this year - and continues to go from strength to strength this grass court season.

We caught up with the Belgian star to find out why she has the hunger to compete at the top of both singles and doubles, and how it has helped her develop her skills.
