LTA announce further opportunities for professional players as part of new British Tour swing

• 3 MINUTE READ

The LTA can today confirm three more behind closed doors British Tour events at the National Tennis Centre, as the governing body continues to provide new opportunities for professional players to compete for prize money and ranking points.

The Tier 1 events, scheduled for 21-23 August, 28-30 August and 4-6 September, will provide equal prize money for men and women (£6,300 in total per event), with all players from the first round onwards set to receive prize money.

The events will feature 16 men and 16 women in each draw and are open to players aged 16 or over with an ATP/WTA membership or ITF Pro IPIN, as well as an LTA Membership number.

We are very pleased to continue to provide those opportunities (for players) with this new series of British Tour events in August and September.

The initial swing of British Tour events has seen three Tier 1 and three Premier tier tournaments take place at the NTC, with winners including Cam Norrie, Emma Raducanu (supported by the LTA Pro Scholarship Programme), Arthur Fery and Maia Lumsden (both supported by the LTA Men’s & Women’s Programme).

The final two Premier tournaments of the initial swing begin today with live coverage across BBC Sport website and app, as well as on the LTA website and YouTube channel.

George Donnelly, LTA Head of International Event Programmes, said: “This summer the National Tennis Centre has hosted a range of successful behind closed doors events, providing opportunities for players to return to competitive tennis in a safe and productive way.

"We are very pleased to continue to provide those opportunities with this new series of British Tour events in August and September. We have already seen some fantastic tennis across the tournaments to date and I’ve no doubt this will continue throughout the rest of the British Tour series.”

The LTA has also announced today the return of junior competition, with the LTA Youth National Series confirmed to take place between 10 and 27 August. The series of tournaments will provide a number of opportunities for the best juniors in the country to compete in in six different age groups from 10U to 18U. Confirmed venues are Aldershot Tennis Centre, Millfield School and Nottingham Tennis Centre.
