LTA award coach development centre status to Tennis Wales

The LTA has announced improvements to the delivery of education, qualifications and professional development for tennis coaches in Britain, with a restructured approach seeing the selection of leading education providers to operate a network of 12 LTA Coach Development Centres (CDCs) across GB.

An innovative new partnership between Tennis Wales, Cardiff Met University and Wrexham Tennis Centre will see a new Coach Development Centre created specifically for Wales, training and supporting hundreds of new and existing tennis coaches from 2021 onwards. The new landscape will allow for dedicated support to service the needs of the local workforce and enable closer links to deployment opportunities across Wales.

Coach Development Centres such as Tennis Wales, will deliver LTA qualifications and CPD and will be led by a team of tutors, providing high quality and innovative training to people living & working in Wales.

Ellie Lewis, Coaching & Volunteering Manager for Tennis Wales commented on the new CDC status

“We are delighted to be given this opportunity to work closer with new and existing Welsh coaches and provide a platform to help each one achieve their potential. We have established a fantastic team of tutors and developed strong partnerships with Cardiff Met University and Wrexham Tennis Centre to deliver level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications, elective modules and CPD. We are now developing a bespoke website, booking & payment portal allowing anyone in Wales to access great training and personal development from January 2021.

The new Coach Development Centre in Wales will officially launch in January.
