Wales players impress at Lexus Wheelchair Tennis National finals

Kevin Lewis and Lilly Folland reached the finals of the mens’ doubles and ladies’ doubles respectively at the Lexus Wheelchair Tennis National finals at the Shrewsbury Club.

Both players were also semi-finalists in their respective singles competitions.
Kevin and partner Gary Cox faced Mark Langeveld and Rob Teague in the mens’ doubles finals. They lost the first set 4-6, but fought back to take the second set 6-4, before losing the finals set 4-10.
Lilly and partner Tracy Vallance took on Helen Bond and Naomie Tarver in the ladies’ final, losing in straight sets 2-6, 3-6.
Meanwhile, Lily Bignell and partner Tony Quinn got to the semi finals of the first ever mixed doubles category.
Evan Hansen picked up his first senior novice draw win 6-1, 7-5 and took the junior doubles winners to a third set tie-break with partner and fellow Welsh player Cameron Hudd – while Imogen Ashwell-Rice showed how well she has progressed as she competed well in the juniors girls singles draw.
